Call to ban drivers from washing cars at home

Options
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/9550745/Plea-to-ban-motorists-washing-their-cars-in-the-street.html

Garage owners suggest to Cameron that not only unscrupulous pop up car washes should be banned but ultimately we should all be banned from washing our cars at home - on environmental grounds! Nothing whatsoever to do with the money they want to make on their car wash machines!

(NB if this ever comes in my wreck will simply go unwashed - well apart from the odd rain shower but they can't ban that!)

I fully understand the need to charge 20p to put air in your tyres, after all we are all effected by inflation ;)

More likely deflation, or you wouldn't need to put air in them at all ;)

    My thoughts exactly!

Oh well, someone had to do something about those fund raising charity [STRIKE]competitors[/STRIKE] car washes!

If motorists were ever banned from washing cars at home, they would have to start charging garages for the swirl marks and other damage that car washes inflict on vehicle paint.

Buy a £3 car wash, send the garage a £200 invoice for a correction detail. :T

I will wash mine even if it because illegal which I very much doubt. Cant believe this will ever work. I prefer to wash my car by hand to get a good job without damage. I paid a lot to me for my car and I want to look after it.

Since I have a company car I do actually attempt to use cheap garage car washes about once a month or so as they're a bit cheaper than the hand places, I'm unwilling to do it myself and it's not really my problem if the paintwork gets swirled.

About half of my attempts to use one fail because the bloody machine is broken.

My personal car goes to a bloke who knows what the two bucket method is.
