Burning roots

I dug out some Holly bushes/trees, and hence I have some quite large root balls at the side of my house. These have some soil on them. Am I right to assume that a small amount of soil on wood when burnt in a stove will do no harm? I will probably try to knock off most of the soil, and maybe even wash some off. Then they will go in the garage to be seasoned.
