Dog keeps fouling on my front lawn

  • Yes, (sorry you posted as I was writing mine). Good result for you. Naming and shaming usually works quite well.

I absolutely hate dog poo. My road leads down to a footpath over a river and onto a popular dog walking field so loads of dogs (and horses) up and down it. Always having to avoid dog poo, almost every day. Worst is it's a school route so there's kids up and down the road every day. Just irritates me that some owners are so irresponsible.
Mind you, the horse poo is worse; they always do it right on the narrow bridge so it's completely unavoidable and never clear it up. What's the difference I ask? Poo is poo and still horrible to step in.

It's my biggest bug bear. I have a dog of my own and never in all his 12 years have I left a pile behind.

I got so sick of the kids treading it in the house, in the car, up the front steps etc
Why can't folk have a bit of pride in their streets anymore?

I still maintain it could be hedgehog - that is often grey in colour.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • I'd do some surveillance and find out whose dog it is and then leave it on their doorstep.
  • It may be a cat - they don't always dig a hole and bury it, I had one regularly fouling the lawn in my back garden and I thought it was some small god doing it until I actually saw the cat doing it.
Try putting 'Silent Roar' on the lawn :

Thank you!! A local cat seems to have made our front yard their litter tray, so fed up of poop-scooping, but not for much longer!!!
  • Sorry but you're own pee does smell... I have a 5 year old boy with bad aim and, trust me, it smells! :rotfl:

I would not advocate revenge attacks on the owner when you find out; not at first anyway. ;) At least try the more diplomatic approach. If they tell you to 'eff off, then you might be justified but there's no point starting a war with someone over a little poo. There's far more satisfying ways to get revenge on someone.

  • I have a similar issue but it is definitely foxes pooing on my front garden and bringing heir ransacked rubbish and dumping it everywhere. For the last few days I have had a baby's dirty nappy, along with the regular torn packaging etc. I have no idea where the nappies or rubbish are coming from because we all seem to have wheelie bins where I live - I say 'seem to have' because clearly the foxes are getting this stuff from somewhere.

What can I do to stop this? And what can I do to get rid of the smell of fox pooh? They are going on an areas of bark so I cant work out what is fox pooh and what is bark.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
  • It could be a gerbil. Have you considered that it might be a gerbil?
