This could be pretty hard to prove. Not impossible though.

I would recommend that you get an estimate to put right the damage, before you calculate whether it's worthwhile claiming anyway.

Then you can plan your next move with the insurance.

    And fairly unlikely.

There were some reasonably strong winds in the area around 13/14 September, topping out at around 40mph. Not what anyone in Scotland would call a storm, but it's the kind of weather that might cause the insurer to buckle and pay, if their decision is contested.

It does seem most likely that the housebuilder cemented them poorly.

Any roofer that recommends the use of scaffolding to replace a couple of ridge tiles is a CROOK. A tower platform would be more than adequate to satisfy regulation (and probably superflous itself in practical terms). OP, if you're quoted in excess of £400/£500 you're being had.

When I had a ridge tile replaced a few weeks ago the roofer used a ladder, went straight up onto the roof, fixed the ridge tile did a couple of other fixes while he was there, came back and charged £50.

I think replacing roof tiles is standard house maintenance, no need to involve insurance, just find a roofer in yellow pages and ring him.
