A friend was going to get a water meter fitted but for various reasons it was too complex. However they 'assessed' her usage and gave her a discount because she is a single person.
She says £100 has been knocked off her annual bill!
I'm wondering if this is because she wanted a water meter but it wasn't possible. I don't particularly want a water meter but I would certainly appreciate a discount!
Has anyone experienced this?

An assessed charge is given if you apply for a meter and for technical reasons it cannot be fitted. A situation that occurs sometimes in flats and properties on shared water mains.
There is a standard assessed charge for types of property, or number of occupants(company policy determines occupants or number of bedrooms) Most(?) will offer a single person discount if proof is given.
Look up 'assessed charge' on your company's website.
However it is important to note you only become eligble for that charge when you have applied for a meter and one cannot be fitted.0
