I know someone who does this, she does have the merc etc, and the fancy title, but she insists on pushing it down everyone's throats at every opportunity, it is frustrating, and perhaps why they gain some of the negative PR that their reps do.

I tried some products once, as did my colleague, it was nasty! Made my eyes water for hours, and I am not a sensitive individual normally.

As with all of these schemes, few people succeed once they have sold to their immediate friends and family.

I too have been the subject of hard sell from a desperate member of this 'business', who was keen for me to buy their products and join them as a member.

Said member is no longer in our group of friends as every one got fed up with him constantly spouting the rubbish that he had been indoctrinated with and cut him of.

So to sum up, a business opportunity that is great if you want to alienate yourself from all your friends and family.
  • imoneyop, it seems that once the sellers have exhausted their network of people to sell to, the only way to make money is by signing other people up, hence the desperation.

When products don't sell, the money to pay some people comes from the losses of the others.

I found this to be very informative:

You do realise this link goes to another forum of opinions and not fact right?

Again, check out the DSA list for a list of legitimate Direct Selling companies.

No it goes to another thread in this same forum with a link in it to a article in the Daily Mail which said Arbonne were being investigated for pyramid selling.

    Is this in correct ?

What has the DSA got to do with it. Arbonne pay serious money to be a member. What does that prove ?
  • It seems that we have reached Game Over. Now that the dust has settled, I would like to say that of all the posters in this thread, the one who I think gave the best reasons not to get involved with Arbonne is ... Hug.

Posters such as that never realise that for us it is Groundhog Day: no matter what the company, we always get a first post that seems to be scripted. They all say the same, and often flounce off because we have upset them. Ignoring the real issues; straw man arguments; not responding to direct questions; no response to very good points; hype and emotion... red flags and dead giveaways...

The desperation in my friend's attempts to sign us up is equally evident in Hug's desperate attempts to defend his 'business'.

This thread has certainly been an eye opener to an extent. It has confirmed the suspicions that i have had when observing other people go through the "arbonne" process. The job titles and the cars given are what gives it away.
  • Desperation is counter-productive and a dead giveaway, but they can't see it or won't admit it. What would be convincing is some verifiable figures: how many people earned something, how much, and how much of this came from other people's losses. These organisations must rely on a big intake of new people who pay for products that they can't sell and who are unsuccessful at recruiting others. I guess that insult is added to injury: they are told that they failed because they haven't worked hard enough.

What job titles do they get?

The information is hidden away on their website, but if you go here http://www.arbonneinternational.co.uk/company/opportunity/success_plan.asp, you can download their success plan document, which shows the title to be -

    Independent Consultant
    District Manager
    Executive District Manager
    Area Manager
    Executive Area Manager
    Regional Vice President
    Executive Regional Vice President
    National Vice President
    Executive National Vice President

The document also shows the 7 (at the highest) levels of override commission that the individuals get from the [STRIKE]suckers[/STRIKE] businessmen below them.
