Generally it will be a lot more expensive to run.
We all appreciate that storage heaters have their drawbacks, especially if you are out at work all day. However you are getting heat at less than half the price on an Economy 7 tariff, and cheap hot water as well.
It is not possible to quantify how much more expensive it is to run, as it depends on your personal circumstances.0 -
re-storage heaters, i am thinking of installing some night storage heating as i think it is now cheaper than oil to run. there is a company advertizing electric heaters (not storage ) who are arguing that its cheaper to run theirs on a flat tarrif ( no economy7) than night storage heaters on economy7. the argument is that day rate is very high on eco.7,thus counting out the saving on night rate.
any comments please ?0 -
what they say is partly correct, but it does depend on how you use electricity0

The day rate is higher. You would need to look at how much electricity you would use during the night and day, and add it all up to see which works out cheaper.
Don't just rely on what somebody else says, often based on some unrealistic figures. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
