Canada is NOT for Tourists

I have recently returned from a Road-Trip across the Canadian Rockies doing the typical tourist hot spots of Jasper/Icefield Parkway/Banff.
The whole experience was one not too be repeated, all the places are just plain tourist rip-offs. Everything is so expensive and of little value for money of anywhere I have been in the World. The only place that will stick in my memory will be Lake Louise, everywhere else is very disappointing.
If you an planning a Canadian Holiday get a Bank Loan before you go, better still, I would suggest Scotland or North Wales have more to offer, as Canada does not deserve tourists.

I guess you won't be going back then, as for Scotland and Wales I'll take that bit as a joke.0

Try Skegness it comes highly rated and you may find it better value for money:D0

I'm glad that you enjoyed Lake Louise. But seriously, if you don't bring enough money to enjoy your holiday it is hardly surprising that you are miserable.
Canada, like Australia, has a strong and successful economy, and that means that the pound sterling does not go very far there. If you want to visit a successful country you should miss your holiday one year and save up so you can have a good time the following year.0 -
Typical tourist hotspots are tourist rip-offs? I'm shocked and appalled!0

I have been to Canada twice (Montreal & Halifax) & I LOVE it!!!
The people are amazing, the city is so clean with loads to do & see. I found the museums very cheap and worthwhile compared to say London.
I think it is very cheap over there but I went 1st time when it was $2 to the £ & the 2nd time (April) it was $1.6 to the £.
I guess you didn't experience Tim Hortons while you were there then? Hmmmm Tim'sFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Were we holidaying on a budget? as that is one sure way not to enjoy what is around you.
I have been to Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto/ Canadian Niagara Falls area and Churchill Manitoba and thoroughly enjoyed what I have seen.
As they always say places are what you make of them and I guess you didn't make much of them!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

I spent a summer working in Tim's. I must have put on about 7 stone! When I was there police got free coffee and doughnuts so they didn't need to pay security. Very MSE:money:
To OP there are some fabulous things to do in the Rockies which don't cost a fortune, just enjoying the scenery for a start. In all honesty I prefer New Zealand, but have very fond memories of Alberta.0 -
No it was not a budget holiday, far from it, Canada has little to offer and was glad to move on into Glacier National Park and Yellowstone. The scenery here is awesome and thankfully made up for the disappointment of Canada.0

Each to their own I suppose, but having just returned from Vancouver two weeks ago, I would tend to disagree.
True - it's not the cheapest city and the harmonised tax does increase the base price of goods, but if given the choice of a destination in Wales, Scotland or Canada, it would be a no brainer for me.
Of course, there are no rip off touristy joints in Wales or Scotland!0 -
As I leave for Canada(Montreal then driving to Toronto) next Sunday, what do you call a rip off? what is that was so expensive petrol,food?0
