A friend of mine recently came back from a 12 week road trip through Canada and into the US. They loved it and the pics were great. Read the OP's review or read theirs...I know which I prefer :)

Im sorry but 40% on everything is just a lie/major exaggeration.

When on holiday I seldomly buy clothes so your example of costs are somewhat meaningless. I will give you a few examples of actual costs so potential travellers can budget correctly :

    National Parks Pass USA $80 Canada $136 = + 70%
Car Hire (14days Banff or Seattle via Budget Car Hire) +34%
    Petrol- Alberta 1.269 /litre : USA 3.69 to 3.79 gall = +29%
    Subway sandwich Banff $15.36 ; Kalispel MT $10.26 = + 49%

When I said 40% it was a generalisation but for sure the costs are much nearer 40% than 15%. Value for money Canada is not.

We went on a guided tour called moose tours we went on the houdapus tour it was about £250 for the week with a guide and accomodation this was bunk house sleeping but we upgraded to a double room in advance. The beauty was we had a guide that knew where to go. If you drove through anywhere stopping along the motorway it will be expensive .We went to Canada for the scenery and looking was free everywhere.A great holiday through the Rocky Mountains Banff Lake Louise etc. I f you go on the rocky mountain express its about £3k for the week but its al acarte every meal we dined very well at various restaurants along the way.
