Groupon Vouchers and BHS Online Shopping - Loads of Hassle

I bought a £20 Groupon Voucher for some BHS Online shopping.

The voucher cost £9 and is worth £20 when shopping.

I used it to buy and pay for a £20 Microfibre Throw (a fleece blanket).

What a load of hassle!!!!

First effort: The Payment transaction wouldn't complete.

A computer glitch doesn't allow 'Collect in Store' - you have to have it delivered to your home.

Second effort: This time the Grouper Voucher Code wouldn't work. I had to phone BHS up to get a new Voucher Code.

Third effort: This time, although I'd spent the pertinent £20 to qualify for FREE delivery (as told to me in my First effort above and where it also tells you not to worry as any Delivery Charge will be taken off at the end during the Payment part of the transaction) I was duly charged £3.95 for my FREE Home Delivery.

Fourth Phone call: I managed to get BHS to agree to refund the £3.95 back to my card on my Third call. On this, my Fourth call, I also complained very strongly about all the hassle to place an online order with them and I asked for some kind of a 'gesture to help compensate for my troubles and all of the hassle'.

How about this! :
I was instructed to send in my telephone bill for them to also consider reimbursing me for my time spent on the phone dealing with my order. I told them they were a joke! I also told them I wouldn't be spending any more of my time with their glitchy and full of hassle online ordering systems and that furthermore, I would try to dissuade other people from doing the same too.

Nothing wrong with the Groupon Voucher, by the way. It was just my experiences using it with BHS Online.

Take care and beware!

    How is this a grabbit?

Well a Groupon Voucher (expiring on 12 October 2012) costing £9 for a £20 spend with BHS is certainly a 'Grabbit Now'. It has limited life and so you have to 'grabbit now' and the shopping discount is £11 for a £20 spend, which is a 55% discount.

But my OP says "Stand by for a load of hassle with BHS if you do happen to use it though."

There are so many glitches with BHS online, you might easily end up having to make at least FOUR phone calls to their CS to get it to work properly.

I sympathise with your frustration but the person on the end of the phone was probably not authorised to just dole out compensation without any justification.

On calls 1, 3 and 4 I asked to speak with the Supervisor and got nowhere.

On call 1 the CS spoke with the Supervisor to get pertinent info and then gave me the result of her findings: "A glitch on Store Deliveries. Try again."

On call 3 the CS got permission from the Supervisor to refund the £3.95 back to the card.

On call 4 the CS didn't mention the Supervisor, or seem to refer back to him/her. She wouldn't let me speak to him/her after I had asked to do so about three times. I got quite angry at the suggestion to check my phone records, copy them and send them in with a letter.

Here is the correct place for letting off steam ...

The Praise, Vent & Warnings Board

If there is a pre-existing thread for the offer you are moaning about, then it would make sense to warn people there as well, but starting a new thread on grabbit board just for a moan will just get people's backs up and earn you little sympathy.

This topic is about a Grabbit.

Buying a Groupon Voucher to spend £20 at BHS on an online shop, which costs only £9 is surely worthy of a mention?

And my opening post warns people using it to be alert for it going wrong.

Perhaps what's wrong is that I haven't provided a link to the Groupon offer for it? I think you can surely tell why?

If you want to make a useful post yourself, don't slap me down but post up a link to the Groupon Offer web site. I absolutely refuse to do it!
  • I too ordered the Groupon voucher which clearly stated

Further information: Valid for delivery or collection. Excludes postage; charges vary, see website for more details. Allow 3-5 working days for delivery; UK mainland delivery only. Voucher must be used in one transaction. Remaining balance will not be refunded. Any spend over £20 must be paid in full. Voucher may not be used to make payment for postage and packaging or for any delivery charge and may not be use in conjunction with any other offer, promotion, or discount, including BHS and Arcadia Group staff discounts. By purchasing a Groupon, you are purchasing a voucher for the underlying products or services described above. Orders fulfilled by BHS.
See the rules that apply to all deals.

I assumed collection meant that I could collect in my local store not have to pay another £3.95 for delivery. After several calls to BHS was told that their system was unable to process a Groupon Voucher with a collection in store- would need to pay the postage and as " a goodwill gesture they would refund the postage".

I gave up at this and asked Groupon for a REFUND!
