E.ON Saveonline 11 deal coming to an end, what to do!?

Hi,

I'm a long time lurker, but feel the need to post now!
I am currently on saveonline 11 from, which ends on 9/11/12.
I've been looking around to switch and Npower Energy online january 2014 is coming out cheapest, saving me £65.
I currently use 2563Kwh elec and 13006 kwh gas.
My question is that will this deal be available by the time I come around to switching?! Also, if I switch now and incur the £30 fee, will I still be saving money.
I also thought potentially I could move to Saveonline12 (this won't save me any money, but won't cost me more either) but then transfer to a new E.ON plan during the summer to get a better exit time for then transferring in 2014. Does that make sense?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

I don't think you can find out now if a deal will still be available when your present one ends.

If you switch now you can avoid the £30 exit fee from EON by switching to their Standard Tariff during the cooling off period. I know you will be paying more during this time but will probably be less than the exit fee and you will have secured your new tariff.

    Hey, thanks for replying.
I'm not sure I understand, if I switch to their standard tariff now and then put my switch in, even though I am still not out of my current deal? So practically how would this work? I change with E.ON now, then start the switch, and even if it goes through before 9/11/12 (the end of my saveonline plan) I won't pay an exit fee?

If you decide to switch to npower now before your current contract ends then you will pay £30 exit fee to EON. However, if you start your switch now, once you are in the cooling off period you can log in to your EON account and switch to their Standard Tariff. EON will not charge you an exit fee - they will consider this just an internal switch as they will not be aware of your intention to switch suppliers at this point.

Your switch to your new supplier will continue and you will then switch from EON Standard Tariff to your new supplier and no exit fee will be involved. Obviously whilst the switch is taking place you will be paying EON Standard Tariff rather than Saveonline 11 which I assume will be slightly more, but at least this way you will know that you have secured your tariff with npower rather than waiting until your EON plan ends and then finding the tariff you want is no longer available.
  • well thanks very much!!
any info on npower customer service?

Thanks.....and you whatever you decide to do.
  • Cheers!
I have just completed the switch online! How long can I wait until I have to transfer my account with E.ON?

Personally I would wait until you have email/letter confirmation from npower but make sure you do it in the cooling off period.
  • Ok thanks. I fixed with Scottish Power until 2014 in the end, savings not as heavy now, although I'll still be saving, but thinking more long term!
