Can anyone help with a Pet Seller issue?

I can see why people are a bit dubious, child with allergies is a classic excuse. Obviously in some cases this is a genuine reason though. This is also the reason if I had kids and was getting a new animal I would take the child to spend time with the animal or one that a neighbour/friend etc had before commiting.
As for the OP, hope you get something sorted.
That is very good advice, but my ex husband has had a cat in the past where my son had spent time with them, unfortunately the cat was knocked over. There was never any hint of an allergy then so I never had any reason to even think of it.
I should also mention that my son is a teenager so there has been plenty of time for him to have had an allergy show up earlier0 -
Well... :0
I got my cat from Preloved. Ironically because the owner's son was allergic. She'd asked the RSPCA (where she got him not long previously) to take him back but they were full and told her to try and rehome him herself until they could find a space. She was asking that someone cover her costs, mainly so he found a home where he was wanted rather than someone who'd just take him because he was free. She did the best thing she could for both her cat and her son, under the circumstances.
Different kettle of fish, I know, but it was a bit of a generalisation. A great many transactions run smoothly and are conducted to the satisfaction of all concerned, including the pet. For every 'bengal', 'maine coon' or even bog-standard kitten for sale on my local site there is more than one genuine re-home - people finding a home for deceased neighbour's pets, people rehoming strays, or people having to give their dearly loved pet away for some understandable reason. Many rescue centres are full, and people are scared that their pet may be put to sleep if a rescue centre cannot rehome them.
...anyways...
OP, as others have said you have a contract and the right to expect that 'the goods', nasty as it is to describe a living creature like that, are as described. You have every right to pursue the sellers.
So good to hear your story.
See, not everyone who uses Preloved (either as a buyer or a seller) is a demon0 -

People can develop allergies at any age right enough, even when been exposed before. We grew up with cats and dogs as kids, my older brother who is now 31 moved out of the family home when he was 19, when he is around cats now his eyes go itchy and his nose goes sniffly, he has to take antihistamines if he is going to my mums or my house for dinner or something.
It's strange. When I got my puppy I was itchy to begin with, despite having had a dog only 2months before. I'm okay now thankfully.
Sorry that people have been a bit nasty, working with a rescue I know that some people definately do make the allergy thing up ( had one case where they had to get rid of 7year old dog cos new grandson was allergic, one month later they had a puppy of the same breed  ) and that's not fair on people with genuine allergies.
Have you tried threatening to go through small claims court ? Even if that's not your plan, saying so may jump the seller into action.0 -

Thats awful, how could they not have been attached to the older dog? The poor thing.
I havent threatened small claims just yet, my husband is in the Armed Forces and is away until November, Im a bit apprehensive as if I write the seller a letter I would obviously need to put a return address on it and as Im here on my own (tho he doesnt know that) Im worried he might turn up here. I just want to think it all through over the weekend...0 -
Actually I do suffer from animal allergies (as I mentioned before) and a host of others, house dust and mites, hay fever etc) I couldn't even enter a room a that a cat had been in when I was very young.
I'm sorry you think I'm having a go.0
