Help please with Netgear wireless router

Hi,
Please can somebody tell me how i log into my router to check all the settings
It is a WPN824 rangemax.
I need to also know how to check wether this has been hacked. When i look at my wireless networks it is wpa encrypted and secure, but i need to know what i should check.
My pc is playing up again, rescanned everything and found nothing. But everything is really slow, pages not always loading (if at all)
Could it be that my hard drive is wearing, how can i check this? Its driving me nuts.
Thats what makes me think something could have hacked my router as well.
Many Thanks
Lorraine
p.s pc is 3 years old and 200gb hard drive windows xp sp2

Hi and thanks for the router page. I have this one but is asking me for user name and passwords. I have tried all the ones i have written down but not working! I know i have accessed this before. Is there a standard user name and password that i should be using for Netgear please? This is really beginning to bug me.
I think the speedtest is ok, but will check again in a mo.
    Thanks

Thanks for that, will try in a moment.
Just done speedtest and was a little slower than the normal for virginmedia.
I am on 4 meg and just got 3062 kbps AND 362 KB/S
My average with this is 3614and the best i have managed is 3893. Although all these figures mean absolutely nothing to me...LOL!!!
My web pages seem to be hanging and some i have just a blank page and been like this for 2 days. I have scanned in safe mode with Avg, Adaware, Spybot and found nothing. I am also running Kerio free firewall (in which the full version trial has just run out), and must admit i dont know what any of the settings mean in the doobreys!!. I tried disabling this and enabling the windows firewall, but things were the same.
Thats why i am wondering if it could be the hard drive on the way out, but i do not know how or if i can check this.
    Thanks again
    Lorraine

    Hi,
Managed to get into the settings of my router..
Is there anything that i should be looking for on the router status?
The ip address is different on the internet port and the lan port, so dont know if thats anything to worry about. DHCP is also on.
Mac address is the same apart from the last letters. These are 'E' and F'.

Running https://www.ccleaner.com (select Internet Explorer on Cleaner settings, Firefox too if you use that) and then defragging might speed things up a tiny bit. If your hard drive is faulty you'd probably see errors as well.

If your using the default password then you really should change it.

Also, click Start - Run - type chkdsk c: /r - OK. Enter Y to the prompt and restart the computer.

The ip address is different on the internet port and the lan port, so dont know if thats anything to worry about.

This is what it supposed to be, the lan port ip address will be along the lines of 192.168.X.X. This is your internal private ip address. The internet port IP address is your public ip address that is visible to the outside world

    DHCP is also on.
This is what allocates IP addresses to Computers on your home network, no problems here.

Mac address is the same apart from the last letters. These are 'E' and F'.

can you still access web pages some times? or not at all?

    Hi ,
Well, thisafternoon i got virginmedia to reset my modem, and i have gained a better speed according to speedtest.net. Somepages however are still hanging a bit and this site took ages to load! My router password was already different and managed to access that ok. As for defragging, i do this regular, and update all my av and spyware daily. Also delete temporary files and history etc.,
It is still bugging me though, things just arent right.
I am now wondering wether it could be the kerio free firewall causing my probs now, as i seem to have eliminated everything else. The trial version ran out the other day, and am now using what it left me with, although i dont understand all the settings, so havent touched anything. Perhaps somebody would recommend me a different free 'easy to use firewall'. I do think the Kerio one is a bit advanced for me to understand!
    Many Thanks
    Lorraine
