Hi all,I'm busy filling in the templates to try and claim back ppi on
Loans from HSBC,credit cards from Santander ,Halifax, mbna, store credit from comet
I have account no.s but little else I have filled in the claim templates but do I need to enclose the £10 cheque with each one as I don't have the original documentation
I'm self employed and my buisiness advisor at HSBC has already informed me I have several cases for previous loans, and has forwarded requests for further documentation to The relivent department ,I have filled in a template as well
After reading the forums I'm a little confused ,do I fill in the template plus £10 cheque?
Thanks

To make a complaint all you need is the account number and reason for complaint. You do not pay anything to make a complaint.
If you do not have account number you can phone the bank and ask for information on accounts that have PPI. This costs nothing.
If the accounts are closed and the bank will not give you the information you can then send them a SAR letter (cost £10) which they will have to honour and give you all the information they have on your account.
Take your time filling in your complaints as if it falls at the first hurdle and ends up going to the FOS then you will have a long wait - 12 -18 months0 -
Thanks,so closed accounts need a SAR letter then0

If you phone the bank they may give you information on closed accounts if not then you then need to send a SAR letter which they have to disclose all information on you account.
Some banks appear more helpful than others with closed accounts but an informal initial approach is your best bet.0 -

If you already have the account numbers, then a SAR will not generate that much more information.Moneybackplease wrote: »Thanks,so closed accounts need a SAR letter then
What you need are valid and verifiable complaint reasons. Look here for suggestions which may apply to you

Incase my post number 4 caused confusion that would only apply if you were looking for the account number or wondering if there was PPI on that account.0

As I have account no.s I should fill in the claim templates and send recorded post then,no cheque required then ?
Being self employed makes the insurance not much good anyway ?
Plus never remembered a cooling off period
Is it worth trying to claim off the comet store card?
Also just read on here a link to Santander and on there it advises you to contact them direct ,so will try that too0 -
Fill in the questionaire and get proof of posting from Post Office.Keep a copy of all paperwork.
On the question about self employed -I posted on a thread yesterday and hoped someone would get back to me on it.
I will link to it here and see if dunstonh or someone with more knowledge will comment. From post five I think

Cheers
Been phoning the companies so far the ones that are helpful are the more recent ones ,that I had opted out of ppi (i was just checking to be sure)as I realised they would be much good to me ,so at least I learned a few years back that lesson0 -
Ok a bit of misunderstanding going on here.
You have account numbers but do but know if they have PPI?0 -

I'm going through all my past cc ,loans ,some I know had ppi others I wasn't sure about ,as some statements don't mention it
I had a halifax cc ( unsure if I paid ppi) also Aa loans I know did,so trying to get in touch with rbs direct to see if they can help me with the loan details before sending my template and a cheque( as no account details for the Aa ones)0
