Well the fact that you have not paid back the bank charges from natwest will be putting negatives on your credit report. Also the mobile phone not being paid for until now will also have put negatives on your credit report.
The banks will look at this and think hello here is someone whom maybe a big risk to us, so we will stay clear of them.
Your credit score of 220 means diddly squat its just a made up number. What they look at is payments to any existing credit accounts, any defaults and CCJs. Its also wise to get your credit reports from all three agencies and see whats on them.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Save up and buy the TV when you can afford it. It's only £200 after all I'm sure it wont take you long.
In the meantime, do something more useful/interesting instead. There's nothing on TV worth watching anyway.0 -

I suggest you read this:

Note that these accounts are available to anyone except for those with a record of fraud. There may be something on your file that you don't know about.0 -

I guess you didn't read the bit where the OP said "hi everybody, im having a big problem getting a basic bank acount i have tried the co-op cash minder account and the equivalent at barclays."
So the link you have posted is useless as he can't get either of those accounts!!!!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
is there anyway i can get al this sorted?0

I posted the link so that the OP could see that basic accounts are open to pretty much everyone and there has to be a reason why he is having a problem opening one, other than a couple of black marks on his credit file.
I'm afraid you missed my point completely0 -
Why exactly can't you get a basic bank account? I was in a similar position a few years ago due to lack of suitable identification - It is very difficult if you don't drive, have an expired passport and are not named on utility bills.
I found the best options were Barclays, who are about the only ones to allow you to apply for a basic account online, and use their online ID check (Asks you questions based on your credit file) and Nationwide who were really helpful when I went in branch. Both of them don't have as many restrictions on the accounts as some others too - i.e they don't mind you going in Branch and talking to them! Still can get a debit card too.
The whole point of a basic account is that anyone should be eligible (apart from instances of Fraud as mentioned)
Credit checks for renting are a bit different too - more about your traceability. They are already going to get a deposit from you, and by definition they will know where you live!0 -
