  • there are some people who need to live on the edge literally to get a kick. Funny reaction in OP though, if the rider was doing this on a drag strip for recordbreakers or whatever he/she will probably be cheering him on.

I don't have much against motorcycle riders, they're not much of a nuisance and when they do dangerous stuff they are mostly only dangerous to themselves. It car drivers that scare me, when they start being foolhardy and realise that inside a shell of a car they're practically invincible and knock into other peoples cars. Try pull out of a parked spot without looking on a motorbike, rarely will that happen.

North Yorkshire police van ;), and it doesn't exactly stand out depending on where it's parked.

I've passed it once that I know of & didn't see it till the last minute, it's supposed to be at the end of my street this week, but so far no sign.

blimey that outrageous. Back in the day police cars used to be white and they had high vis decal and had big blue lights on their roof and they use to stick out like a lemon. You could spot them a mile away.

These days, the police drive silver corsas and bmws (which are common as much) both in colour and make. They also use those slimline police lights that you can't spot from more than 40 meters away.

So now, whenever I see a silver corsa I check my speed just in case. It's really annoying. People should stop buying silver corsas.

Well, in my 33 years of bike riding on many different machines from a 50cc "fizzy" to a CB1100R (and various others in between), I've never ridden a single one that can't be ridden without the front wheel lifting when accelerating if that is what an experienced rider wants.

It's only normal if the rider wants it to be normal or if they are racing or trying to impress, and there is no reason why when riding a motorcycle on the road in the UK that the front wheel should ever lift.
If any bike owner thinks that doing a wheelie is "normal", then maybe they should consider a different mode of transport.

Any high power supercar can perform doughnuts or burn out the tyres when accelerating, but that doesn't mean that they must do this when being used on the roads.

I am an ex biker, but some of the things that bikers do does make you wonder if they have any imagination.
There is a biker on the A2 in Kent each morning, who when the traffic is doing nose to tail 40MPH to 50MPH, he carves straight through the middle in excess of 70MPH - madness. the problem is, that he is not taking into account, that people will want to change lane to take any of the numerous exits, and that his speed far exceeds what they will be able to see/react to.
If people pull big wheelies on the road, they are not prepared for anything else and will not be able to brake in the case of an emergency.

Bikers around where I live are I have to say complete dickwads at times - and yes car drivers are two before I get flamed, the problem with them is that I dont think they can think as fast as they can travel if you follow.
In recent years I have known of several accidents all where the bikers had lost control, the last one that I actually came across being a biker who was attempting to overtake a car towing a caravan that was already overtaking a coach - he ran out of road and ended up in a ditch with a fractured femur !

Then theres the speed freaks like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8msQmLzwkrg&feature=colike watch from 5 mins onwards ! this again is in the area I live and shows the organ doners going for it, nice long straight roads, sounds like Brands Hatch on a fine day, but hey ho their life !
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

I dont like speeding, I'm a frugal driver so I end up doing gear 4 on a 30mph road to keep the revs below 2K. speeding just ends up wasting fuel and gets you nowhere, especiall when you have to do a lot of start-stopping.

BUT there are times when its safer to speed. Like when on a 40mph carriageway leading out of London at 6pm where everyone is doing 50-60. Doing 40 in that situation can be dangerous because everyone else is going a lot faster, and cars behind you are chaging lanes to overtake you (leading to more hazards and disruption in the flow).

If more stuck to the speed limit they couldn't do that.
