Servicing Intervals

Options
I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice regarding servicing intervals?

We have a Chevrolet Aveo, and whilst a service isn't due for a good time yet, I like to plan in advance! Services are due every 10,000 miles or per year, whichever comes first. This I fully understand. However, I was wondering how this works in practice. For example, if the service is done a day late, or a mile over the limit, does this invalidate the warranty? Or is there some kind of tolerance - e.g. if we're within 100 miles of the limit is this ok? I've searched in vain for this information but can't find it...

My other question surrounds what we do once the car's out of warranty. We've got the service pack, which means servicing's paid up for our first three years. For our fourth service (again, some time away!) we've seen advertising e.g. for the JCT600 Drivers' Club, which offers servicing far cheaper than the Chevrolet prices, but has the small print that these services aren't designed to replace the manufacturers' scheduled service. So I guess my question is, what's the point? Presumably the service is done at the same garage by the same technicians, so what's the difference and why is it cheaper?

Apols for asking these questions so early, but I like to be prepared and want to look after my car. Any clarity to these questions will be much appreciated.

Cheers!
Rich

1000 miles or 1 month rings a bell.

Its cheaper because it maybe just an oil change.

Consider the limits a MAXIMUM. Not a get as close as you can to them.

Although my car has 12,000 mile servicing intervals it had oil changes every 8000 miles or less.

Thats why i paid a bit more for it. Nothing worse than a neglected car.

I month or 1k miles either way is normal with most manufacturers though I had an aftermarket warranty once that was 500 miles either way.

I don't necessarily agree with 'over servicing' - with modern oils, it not really required, but it certainly won't hurt to have an extra oil change between services if you're so inclined.

As for once the warranty has expired, a 'standard' service will normally do for normal mileage and use but be sure to also follow the manufacturer's guide when it comes to additional items like cambelt change, fuel filter change etc. would be my recommendation.
