Can I ask for any good and bad opinions on them please? Only
I've seen a parked one being clipped on the back by someone come round a corner at very low speed. It was knocked up the road like a ping pong ball, so I'm not surprised about the comments about them in wind.0 -
Before you go changing your car, would the one you've got cost £3000 extra to run than a Smart over the time you'd own it?0

Yes, if you're buying one as a second vehicle to save money, ensure that your savings on petrol won't be cancelled out by the extra tax, insurance, servicing etc.0 -
My thought on being in one was the semi-auto gearbox was awful and the ride was trampoline like. However, it was a funky wee thing and there is more space in it than you'd think - at least as a paasenger, you wouldn't want to take someone shopping unless they were getting the bus home.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
I notice that Which? do not like these.Nice to save.0

mk4 golf tdi are pretty decent at 50mpg, plus you won't be scared of taking them out on to carriageways and motorsways. The beneift of smartcar is that it is smaller and thus easier to park.
p.s. not sure which smartcar OP wants, I'm assuming it's the 2 seat one.
Talking of which there are some really good single track cars where the sole passnger sets behind the passenger. Tghey're way out the price range at 40K each, maybe they'll come down a bit when used.
They would have been driven more in the UK had they had permission to ride on bus lanes and be treated as motorbikes rather than cars.0 -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iKGfo1wmOM it has a safety cell structure, but looking at the aftermath i believe the damage to be all too intrusive especially the stearing column.
it light so mindfull of puddles aquaplaining and such you just have to watch the vid to notice as its going down the track its getting pushed and pulled buy the wind and puddles.
in my opinion there are better cars for the money a smart is available for, pug citroen well open to debate, but i wouldnt have these three brands cars.0 -
Go for 07 onwards with the 1.0 engine.0

Take a serious look at the Chevrolet Spark.
For the price it is very well equipped, well designed and has a proper four cylinder engine. The 1 litre engine is perfectly capable at motorway legal speeds and it is comfortable. Great economy too.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
