T mobile dongle

hi guys... pretty new here...
Back in 2008 I got one of those internet dongles with T-Mobile, a few months later, it was stolen... So I rang up T-Mobile asking them to send me out a new dongle and SIM card, they wanted me to pay £100 for the new dongle and then £25 for a new sim... I then told them I wanted to cancel the contract and they told me I couldnt...
I then cancelled their direct debit so they couldn't claim the money off me.
Around the time the contract should have ended I got a huge bill come through saying I owe them £389.32.
I just ignored it - Yes I know that was bad but they had already ruined my credit with a big angry black spot....
- This was in 2009.
Today I got some more mail, 3 years later....
T-Mobile and Orange got bought out by a company called Transcom or something, and now they want that £389.32.
(They must have found me through Orange records as I'm with them)
I've had this black spot on my record for 3 years now, and I was told it will disappear after 6 years, I'm not concerned that I will have another black spot added to my account that's going to last a futher 6 years for the same reason as my first black spot...
I don't have the money to pay this bill off... And I don't really want to as I never used the service, and they were made aware that the stuff was stolen so should have blocked it so no one else could run up any bills...
What should I do? :undecided

Not paying off collections or ignoring the bill won't do you any favours.
I understand you feel like you shouldn't pay because you didn't use the service, but you signed a contract, and by that contract you are legally responsibly for the repayment of the debt.
Can you not set up a repayment plan, maybe £20 a month?, Also, a CCJ can be obtained against you even up until the 6th year is up.0 -
What would a CCJ do?
Sorry I'm only 21 and don't really understand this sorta stuff.... I'm a mechanic... I know cars, not much else lol
So basically I need to call them up and pay it off... If I pay it off could it get rid of my black spot on my credit rating?0 -
You would be unable to get the default removed, it will stay on your credit record for six years from the default date.
A County Court Judgement is when the company you owe money to applies to the local court for repayment of the debt, they can then apply for payments to be deducted from your wage/salary or instruct bailiffs to remove goods from your property. The CCJ, if issued; has a very negative impact on your credit record and you would find it very difficult to obtain credit for 6 years, although as the CCJ gets older, it would have less impact on your file.
They should really teach this stuff in school!!.. Don't worry, you're not the first and won't be the last to ask what a CCJ is!0 -
Also mate, Transcom are a Debt Collection agency, T-Mobile have sold the debt on after failing to collect payment.
Talk to them to arrange a payment plan, they are not bad people, just trying to obtain money that's owed. personally, I wouldn't be able to do their job so hats off to them!!!!0 -
i'll give them a bell tomorrow I guess......
Not happy about it lol...0 -
