Best winter sun holidays?

Hi all!
Hope somebody can help me out as i'm starting to lose my mind!

Looking to go on holiday at the beginning of November (Probably around the 5th-7th). Was thinking Mexico for 10 days, but have since found out that it is likely to absolutely pour down for most of the ten days!!

Does anyone know of any places that would be in the mid to late twenties in November?
I've found Egypt, but not too sure what to make of it. Has anyone ever been to Egypt?

Thanks,
Joe.
Any views are my own and may not always be correct - though i do try :o

  • Cost isn't really an issue been saving a while for a holiday this year but something always tends to pop up when its time to book!! Finally got some time free in November!! Will look into the canaries thank you for your reply :).

  • Hi, I went to Egypt in October a few years back, and it was lovley and hot. I'm a diver so had a weeks in Sharm El Sheik. I think prices have gone up since then, but it was very cheap to eat out, and a really nice resort.

We have also been to The Gambia in January a few years ago. Bear in mind you need Malairia pills and jabs, but it was 36 degrees every day. We visited all over the place with a local man, but if you don't like to be "bothered" by locals very time you leave the hotel, then give it a miss.

We went to Furteventura in Feb this year and were a bit disappointed, it was a bit chilly, and the wind just never stops, and there wasn't much to see. It depends on what you like to do on hols, relax and not leave the pool or get out and about to sight see?
  • I'm more in need of a relaxing lazy holiday more than a sightseeing holiday. We've done Fuerteventura too that was in April of 2004, was pretty chilly with the wind!! If we do pick the canaries i think it would have to be Lanzarote. I'm swaying a little bit more towards Egypt or Mexico though. Glad you replied and said it was nice, as I've heard many mixed reviews on Egypt. The majority have said it is nice though. I'll have a look into it. Thanks for your reply.

i have been to all the canaries and as much as i enjoy lanzarote it has always been windy (we stay PDC) as has fuerteventura. playa blanca might be better if you do go to lanzarote.
i have only been to sharm in early march, very hot during the day. if you are looking for relaxation look up reef oasis blue bay and spa resort in sharm
  • I agree with you brightonman123 that Canary Islands are good for you. I would recommend Tenerife been there loads of times myself at different ages , there are loads to do and see nice beaches and great nightlife .There are many great restaurants to eat at which aren't expensive either.

Fuerteventura tends to be windy anyway.

I've been to Lanzarote (Puerto del Carmen) late mid November and the weather was lovely, around 28 degrees all week, except one overcast day, and no wind.

Egypt should be lovely in November. Well, I sincerely hope so as we are going to Hurghada for ten days on 13 November.

I have been to Egypt several times before at different times of the year. It has always been sunny. Very hot in June and July, gorgeous in March and slightly chilly in the breeze at the end of January.

November, I am assured will be similar to March.

Egypt in November is perfect, not too hot but around 30 degree's during the day. We loved it, and would definitely return at that time of year.
We went to Lanzarote in early December and it was a lot cooler than I was expecting, and quite windy. I think Tenerife and gran canaria are meant to be warmer during the winter.

Sorry I forgot to say we went to Mexico in December for 2 weeks and the first week was solid rain, very unusual the locals said, but it was a bit dissapointing after travelling all that way.
