Pac Codes

Can anybody help me here with a silly question,i give 30 days notice on a sim only contract with 3 on the 10th september(gone over the 12 month contract)and interested with a sim only deal with talkmobile with maybe some cashback from topcashback for the deal but going through the process of ordering one last night they asked for a pac code obviously to keep my present number,anyway i stopped ordering because i did not have a pac code so just phoned 3 and the said i cant have a pac code until 30 days notice is up (10th october) but as im trying to take advantage of some cashback i was wanting to order from talkmobile in the next few days because the chance of some cashback expires in the next few days(sorry to go on) is there any way round this with 3 or should i just order the new sim only card and loose my present number.THANKS.

Typically they are either talking rubbish or lying. Ask your call to get escalated to a higher level. In the worst case scenario see Can my mobile provider refuse to give me a PAC? and try calling Ofcom for an advice.

3 are notoriously bad losers. Be VERY FIRM but courteous and mention you will be contacting OFCOM unless this problem entirely of their making is resolved to your satisfaction immediately. You watch what happens then.

If you still don't manage to get your PAC code by the time the cashback deal is over, then don't worry as mobiles.co.uk (part of the Carphone Warehouse group and TalkMobile) are offering 24 months free by redemption on certain refurbished handsets meaning that you'll effectively pay nothing and can just use the sim in you get in another phone.

Unfortunately mobiles.co.uk links are forbidden on MSE forums but if you go to the website then choose make -> Alcatel -> ALL -> then select OT 209 silver refurbished.

Thanks for comments,will try and sort this out with 3 when I get home from work but it's sometimes hard to put your point across with the language barrier.
