If it's new, I'd restore it to factory settings and start again, Ctrl F11 at boot.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

albertross ... what will i lose by "restoring to factory settings " ... i've loaded all the antivirus etc .. and autoroute..office...tomtom .. etc .0

you'll lose anything you've changed since delivery, so all of the above.
The other alternative is to do a system restore (rstrui) to a point before the problem started. This may retain some of your installations, depending on how far you go back, and it shouldn't touch your data.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Albetross - how do you do a system restore? Maybe thats whats wrong with my laptop0

It can also be software, I got a new bit-torrent client and had the same problem, got rid of the new software, problem went too.
Is there anything you installed prior to the problem starting? Can you roll back?0 -
