Anyone had/considering articial wedding flowers?

Hi All,

I've been having a look at a few websites that do silk wedding flowers..they look really good and in pictures I really don't think you could tell the difference. I'm also a stresshead so anything I can get sorted in advance of the wedding day would be a bonus!! they also have orchid ones which i assume would be very expensive from a florist!!

Has anyone had these or found any good places? or been to a wedding where they had them?

Thanks xx

I'm having silk flowers for my wedding, I got them from an ebay seller (lilyofangeles), she also has an Etsy store. The flowers are absolutely fabulous, they look so real and I am delighted with them, I highly recommend her. I was £148 for my bouquet, 2 BM bouquet, one flower girl bouquet, one alter piece (also being used for top table) and button holes for groom, best man, and 2 dads and 2 mothers corsages. I got a customs charge which was around £30 so all in all I was £178 for all those flowers and they look professional.

These are very similar to mine. You can also ask for a custom listing.

I had artificial flowers for my wedding - a bit cheaper (MSE after all :))

I wasn't bothered about them looking totally natural, but it did mean that I could get them "customised" as I wanted. I used Wendy's Affordable Weddings online. her florist will take pics & feedback to you before shipping out. They will try & find what you are after! I wanted shades of pinks in roses & peonies.

I had - medium bridal bouquet, 2 x BM mini-posies, BM wand, and they made my youngest niece a very cute fluffy white flower teddy - £96

Actually if you are considering having orchids then the good artificial ones are in my opinion possibly a better option than the real thing....

They are a season flower and can be quite expensive when not around....and they are also very delicate and do not really react well once cut, they arn't as robust as other flowers and "bruise " quite easily causing brown edges to the petal etc...

  • I'm in the process of making felt flowers! I need to pull my finger out though as the wedding is in 6 weeks.

I'll be making mine from foam flowers on ebay if we have them. flowers aren't something I am really keen on as I think I'll put them down and not pick them up again ha ha.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • We had artifical flowers- they were fab.

My mil works in a shop that specialises in artifical flowers so it was the obvious choice!! Ive had so many compliments about my flowers, I loved them. I was a bit worried that the button holes wouldnt look that great, but they looked lovely aswell.

We also had artifical flowers for the table centrepieces, and at the end of the evening they found new homes instantly- Im so glad they are now pride of place in peoples homes rather than ending up in the bin!!

if you are after artificial orchids you could look at this ebay seller: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Topknots-4-All-Occassions/TEARDROP-BOUQUETS-/_i.html?_fsub=2764596017&_sid=216621797&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322

Not sure if she does other colours than those listed but there's no harm in asking. I ordered my flowers from her (asked for a custom order of what I wanted) and she was great, and the flowers look lovely and I'm so so pleased with them. Got another 4 weeks before I can show them off to everyone at the wedding.

PS. she also does these flowers in a posy style if you ask for it (which I have for the 2 bridesmaids)
  • Thanks everyone, some great looking shops there!! had a look on ebay yesterday and found lots of gorgeous things!! I'm looking at wrist corsages for the bridesmaids, so will definately be more durable to have artificial ones! i had a gerbera (sp) wrist thing at my friends wedding last year and there were no petals left after a coupld of hours!

    i love these

    and this for me:

    bargain!!

also re centrepieces, i also thought that people could take them home at the end as it is shame to chuck them in the bin!!

    xx
  • I did, I had these:

They were off ebay. Teal was my colour, but hard to find when I was looking last year, so had little bits of it in different ways.

I also had a fake teal gerbra in 50p vases from ikea with beads in the bottom, again a little bit of teal in with the beads for table center pieces. I bought one home, the rest were given to guests, my mum/dad, my sister, my inlaws, my friend who made us our cake.

    It looked like this:

The reason I went for fake flowers is what I wanted to keep mine. Have also kept hubbys fake flower he wore nn his shirt.

I had them. 1 being i wanted to keep them along with BM flower wands and centre pieces for business reasons.
    and 2 because of costs.

U dont really have hold of them that much so to me seemed a waste of money to hold them for probably all of an hr throughout the day for them to then just wither and die.

I did my flowers, flower wands and centre pieces for under £100 and i had 12 flowers 2 different colours in the centre pieces and had vases with them in.
