I would suggest looking on Ebay for a good down coat for her - they are lovely & cosy, yet are light to carry and can squish up to quite small if it's not really needed. I bought my Per Una one off Ebay ;)

Thank you floss, will have a look tonight with her.

So do I :j.Our DGD is 1 next week-can't quite believe it,it's flown by,so make sure you fully relish those first few weeks Monnagran, and you're lucky you're close at hand as well.Hope the birth goes well.

I've just come back from town after meeting my ex sis-I-L,who remains one of my best friends,we had a cuppa and a catch up after us being away. They are also going away on Friday. She had to dash back to work, but bought my tea & bun to celebrate as she has got a new job with much higher pay and has just given her notice in.

I had a browse in Waterstones for some books for DGD birthday, she seems to like looking at them, and as I have always been a bookworm,I want to encourage her.Got 3 I like anyway.

RRuby -I've got the same machine as Donny (blimey thats shot up in price )and its fine but a bit pricey for a starter machine. Before I upgraded to that one(wanted more stitches) ,I had a ToyotaFSR21,which was about £120.Sainsbugs online have it,and I was quite happy with it-plenty of diff functions for the money.I sold it to my ex SIL,and she likes it too.The only thing was,I soon broke the auto needle threader, but then again I have on the new one too :o HTH

I got some turkey bones from the freezer, and have just made soup for our tea,in the pressure cooker. Also made some rolls that are just proving-I'll bake those in the Remoska. So its a cheap OS tea.My kind neighbour gave me a huge choc fudge cake this morning as her son didnt fancy it,and she didnt want to eat the lot herself & get even fatter(her words not mine I hasten to add!)DS1 sent me a text while I was in town,he'd found it in the fridge and could he please have some :rotfl:

    Evening all,

    Monnagram....fingers crossed for safe delivery!

    JackieO....for heaven's sake woman take it easy.....please!

Out to lunch to-day with last 2 surviving cousins of my father's generation, 82yo had a stroke last year and is in a wheelchair most of the time...86yo is spritely as a bee....which is the woman?? OH came for physical support in case needed, but as the conversation was mainly about 'the old days', family, who married whom etc he was bored stiff most of the time...86yo has a beautiful gold Tara brooch which belonged to her great grandmother.....lovely thing and I am sure worth a few euro, she is trying to decide who of my generation to pass it on to, not in the running I'm afraid, the original owner was married in 1828, so some history there!

Did a wash this morning before we left, it will have to go on airers as it started to rain as we came home.

Going to do a bit of knitting to-night, 'crochet' rash has almost gone, so may do a bit of that as well, nothing strenuous as feeling the stress of driving my brother's big car, mine is too small to put a wheel chair in the back, his is automatic which I am not mad about really, but it is nice to have access to a nice big comfy car when I need one.

Take care all, enjoy the rest of your day

Monnagran - oooh how exciting, hope baby arrives soon!

Started off a beautiful crisp autumn day, but the rain came along about 4pm. Took work kids to visit the school we are doing our project in this morning - we are building them a greenhouse made out of plastic bottles :) so manically trying to collect 2 litres pop bottles! Then this afternoon we went to Pembroke and I took them on the low ropes course. It's a small assault course, and it's to see how they work as a team before we go away next week. They rated themselves 8 or 9 out of ten, but I think they were about a 7 :rotfl: not too bad!

Popped to see an old colleague and her new baby after work, and stole 7 plastic bottles from her! Baby is adorable :)

OS wise - WM been on and dried outside despite the showers! Got a YS loaf of bread for 20p in Asda on way home. Dishes washed.

    Night all

I don't believe this. We're still waiting. The hospital were talking about sending her home again this afternoon but didn't.

We went down to their house to feed the dog, who is not used to being on her own for more than a couple of hours and who went mad when we arrived. She was on her hind legs trying to hug us. I hated leaving her but the Rev had to go to a meeting and needed the car so she had to drop me at home.

DS just rung and they are now talking about inducing her as it's 24 hours since her waters broke. Anyway I am now to go down and look after the dog tomorrow because DIL2B is fretting about her.
    What a carry on.

Hopefully this will be the last grandchild. It will be my 7th ranging in age from 21 to this lazy little bundle.

See you tomorrow, hopefully with some news.

  • Evening all, late one from me, just posting to wish monnagran's DIL2B a safe delivery. FB we're making one of those at our school, just have the roof to do, it looks amazing and such a good way to recycle. We were a little bit shocked at how quickly we managed to collect the bottles, just shows how much fizzy our kids drink, it's an infant school. Will try to post some pictures of it. Good luck with yours. Hugs to all in need esp hilstep, JackieO and topsy.
