What to do with old wheels.

How much do they cost?
And why are they so awesome?
The rubber is made from a different compound and they have a different tread pattern. Normal tyres become quite hard during winter and suffer lower grip as a result. Also the tread pattern is designed to provide grip in dry conditions and move water when it is wet and not dig into snow like winter tyres are.0 -

They're not that expensive if you buy now. Wait until November and expect the price to double.
I paid £70 per corner for mine, compared to £100 per corner for my summer tyres. For that I get tyres that perform a hell of a lot better in the cold weather, and while I am driving around on them I am not wearing out my more expensive summer tyres. Come the end of November the asking price for my tyres had doubled to about £140.
For more detail, see the comparison thread I wrote a couple of years ago: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2913430
I've still got those same tyres now. They'll be going back on my car some time late November.0 -

There'll always be buyers on eBay looking for temporary wheels to put on their car whilst their alloys are away for reconditioning, for instance.
When I replaced alloys and tyres, I sold the old full set of ratty, rusty alloys and tyres to someone who'd bought the same model of car for his OH, and wanted to get the alloys shot-blasted and resprayed for her. With the ones I sold him, he could keep the car running whilst their originals were away at the refinisher.0 -
I'm trying to get a set of Primera alloys right now, which the seller describes as:
"slight marks but all round excellent condition one tyre has more than 6mm tread the other three are all within legal limit but will need replacing after a few hundred miles or so depending on driving style !
Reason for sale is i have just bought new wheels and need the space in my shed back"
So that's basically 4 scuffed wheels, 3 crap tyres and the 4th will want replacing anyway to keep them match. He put a starting bid of £80 and a buy it now of £150, oh and it's collection only.
Surprisingly the auction ended with 0 bids. I sent him a message offering £40 cash, collected this weekend. He's ignored me, probably thinks my offer is derisory. I think his wheels are overpriced.
I guess what I'm saying OP, is don't expect to get megabucks for them!0
