Dodgy Agent?

We have had our flat for sale for 11 weeks now. We reduced the asking price on advice from agent. We also put it into the Countrywide Great British Open House Weekend.
I asked to put it as a featured property to gain more interest. I was happy to pay the money.
I was contacted at home by the agent to say they had a special deal with a conveyancer if I payed an upfront sign on fee they would include the featured property. I asked for the details to be emailed to me so I could discuss with my wife but they said they wanted an answer there and then. I said in that case no.
I checked my bank account a few days later only to discover in actual fact they had put us on this offer. The paperwork arrived a few days later. It said the agent would receive a fee for the referral which was never stated at the time of the phonecall.
Am I right in thinking they are in breach of data protection by passing my details without my permission and possibly obtaining money by deception?

Also my wife is the property owner not myself. So they also acted without the permission of the homeowner.0 -
The questions you are asking are legal ones, not directly related to House Buying, Renting or Selling.Have you written a formal complaint to the agent's manager? Try either this board or your solicitor
