There is something in the terms & conditions effectively implying this won't be a smooth transaction :

    Important information:

Please note there is a slight delay with the system reflecting the credit when you make your purchase. This doesn't mean you will be charged £3.99, just that the confirmation page won't initially reflect the discount, and if you click the "Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance" link, your Amazon MP3 balance may still show the £3 credit after your purchase. Within 30 minutes this will update and you'll get an email confirming your payment of 99p.

I was under the impression it would like it would do when you use other discount vouchers.

This didn't work for me. I chose a title from the list, I went to pay and was asked to sign in.
I signed in and straight away the download started- I wasn't asked (like I usually am) for a payment or to opt to use my vouchers and it just swiped the full £3.99 from my account!

I then contacted Amazon and was told that I had to pay for the Cloud software first and this was £21ish and then I would be able to get the download for 99p

    Was I lied to?

[STRIKE]I thought the cloud part was completely free , couldn't see any mention in the T&C's regarding a fee for it.[/STRIKE]

The cloud is completely free so not sure why you were told to pay for it,
  • The problem is for some reason they've put the Mp3's on their one click system- which unlike the usual system, just automatically buys the Mp3 for you using your default settings instead of going through the usual process of confirming everything. So you have to make sure before you click to purchase that you click underneath this button where it says Redeem etc and enter the voucher there. Then you click the button to buy the music.

It is all explained on the page. I don't know anything about buying Cloud software for 21 pounds, doesn't mention that anywhere and I haven't paid for that at all.

Just below the option to pay there is a link that says "redeem a gift card or promo code and view balance" and a box will pop up asking you to enter a code (whether a promo code or whatever), it looks like they have just got the 1 button to use to pay whereas before they had the 1 click and the other option to buy.

Oh and my discount came off straight away so i payed 99p.

If you sign up for the amazon music newsletter you get a code for discount on another mp3 purchase (whether album or song).
