Oh man now ive got a choice.
  • The Big Country - Fields Of Fire compilation seems good value at 99p for 2 hours 30 minutes of classic rock.

But hurry in case they sell out.
  • Amazon can keep their new Cloud Player - what a stupid idea in the first place. Do I really want to be connected to the cloud and pay data charges whenever I want to listen to my music? What about on the tube?
And the new interface for buying downloads on Amazon sucks too. I ended up buying an album at full price without even realising it. As soon as I clicked 'OK' then the deal was done! No chance to input voucher code.
Thankfully Amazon refunded (Their customer service is good at least - I just hope refund it goes through) but take care you don't get robbed the same way as I didn't even realise I'd purchased until I got an email asking me to download my album. It's all gone a bit rubbish at Amazon I think I'll go elsewhere for my MP3s for the time being.

I downloaded the album immediately after purchasing (with the code in the promo box)

I didn't have any interaction with any cloud.

I received an email some time after purchasing which mentioned the £3 discount.

In order to download an mp3 you will need the latest Amazon Mp3 installer program on your computer.

(the only pain it brings up the WMP all the time whilst downloading the mp3's)

Do I really want to be connected to the cloud and pay data charges whenever I want to listen to my music? Dont need to use the cloud, you can still transfer music to your phone when at home.

What about on the tube? You either listen to your music already on your phone or you deal with it.

Ive used amazon before and there is an option to enter a code, the cloud part is a way to store it, you can still put the music on your phone or an mp3 player.

This may sound harsh, but there's a big box on each page for qualifying albums explaining what to do, and yes, like others have said, you can download straight to your PC etc - apart from the annoying WMP popping up thing, it's not that difficult - sorry projexe!
  • I went for the Steeleye Span box set. 99p for five albums! I have bought MP3s from Amazon recently so already had the latest downloader installed. There was a prompt to register a new device (presumably that's my laptop) but otherwise I saw nothing about the cloud and I don't plan to use any cloud-based functionality in future. The MP3s are downloading to my hard drive in the background now, and I will sort and move them into my main archive when they're done.

Thanks for the tip, I luv cats!

Amazon doesn't seem to be working for me, everytime I click redeem voucher, the page sort of jumps, but no box appears for the code (have I missed the discount?)

Never mind, was using firefox, switched to chrome and it worked (or it seems to...but so far the discount doesn't seem to have gone through.)

    Got eels album :)

One more update: discount does go through, you can check on your account page and open orders, it takes a while for it to process. But is sorted for 99p :)

This didn't work for me. I chose a title from the list, I went to pay and was asked to sign in.
I signed in and straight away the download started- I wasn't asked (like I usually am) for a payment or to opt to use my vouchers and it just swiped the full £3.99 from my account!

I then contacted Amazon and was told that I had to pay for the Cloud software first and this was £21ish and then I would be able to get the download for 99p

    Was I lied to?
  • There is something in the terms & conditions effectively implying this won't be a smooth transaction :

    Important information:

Please note there is a slight delay with the system reflecting the credit when you make your purchase. This doesn't mean you will be charged £3.99, just that the confirmation page won't initially reflect the discount, and if you click the "Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance" link, your Amazon MP3 balance may still show the £3 credit after your purchase. Within 30 minutes this will update and you'll get an email confirming your payment of 99p.
