    its 0.580watts a 1000 watts = 1Kw

The owl is no good for low powered things like mobiles it does drop on mine if I switch a light off that powers 3x9watts (27 watts)

Your usage is sky high only very high powered goods like heating, heating showering constantly could use so much

Do you mean 0.580 kw is your reading now with your items running?

The OWL monitor, while it may be somewhat inaccurate will usually be quite accurate to within 100W or so of idle, and perhaps a few percent out in terms of scale.
When you are talking about 2000W of average use - it can spot it!

First thing I would recommend is unplug _every_ load, and turn off any wired loads like cooker, or ...

Does the meter stop flashing, and the OWL indicate a low value?

Now, plug in appliances one by one and see what causes the use to shoot up.
    However, you may find

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ENERGY-MONITOR-PLUG-IN-SAVE-MONEY-/271052298021?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item3f1bf9d725#ht_500wt_1156

    of use.
This is better for monitoring individual appliances.

    Neglecting all of the above.
If your use is really averaging 50kWh a day, then you must be either having a truly massive load on (say a power shower) for hours a day, or an almost constant more moderate load.
A 3kW load _must_ be something large, that either gets hot, or makes a lot of noise.
A pool heater that's been left on would come to mind, that you don't know about.

At a potential saving of 30kWh/day or more, it would pay for you to fly me down for a few days, and I can fix it for you!
    (not quite serious)

If you can't figure it out - an actual professional electrician may be the next step.

But, given such a large load, it should not be hard to find.
This is not a mobile phone charger left on.

Having read this thread (and your other thread) there is a reasonable suggestion of a meter problem. Rather than hunting for illusory consumption it is now time to do a meter test using a known load such as a heater without a thermostat. Run it for a timed 15 minutes (say) and see how much the meter increases by.

I have also bought a plug in device to go round the house and check everything. Am i checking what they say on standby or when i have them switched on ?

Showers, me and the husband have a quick shower everyday, not a big power shower, 3 kids still at the age i have to nag them to shower every other day and they are in and out lol, so no big shower users.

No the swimming pool has its own gas boiler and i did look into how much the filtatration pump used but it was no big deal plus its off now.

I got the owl because i thought if the meter was running faulty the owl would show up a big difference in figures? Would i be right in thinking thats true?

    This is correct.
    First port of call.
Check meter at 24 hour intervals.
Does OWL indicate approximately the same kWh for the whole day.

If it does, it's not likely to be the meter.
You mentioned '2.8kW' with just a few extra loads on.
The loads you mention might add 400W to your earlier figure, but you've still got 2kW or so 'missing'.

If the washing machine is heating the water it would account for 2-3 kw.

The dreaded tumble drier is a real energy hog, so I use mine only on the wettest days.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
