Phone for use where there is poor signal strength?
                    Hi there,
I'm struggling to get a mobile signal (Vodafone) at home since we are in a remote area. I'm on PAYG. I'd be happy to swap phones if I could get one that coped better with the poor signal than my Nokia 6301 does.
Presumably phones do vary a bit in antenna design etc? Any tips for good models to go for? Just looking for a very basic phone, preferably a clamshell to slip into a pocket. (Smartphone not needed, though would consider one if I could get a better signal with one).
Have tried the little stick-on 'signal boosters' to no avail.
Oh yes, and Vodafone Sure Signal is no good because we have a very very slow broadband here, and I understand that Sure Signal needs at least 1 Mbps.
Any ideas?

AFAIK, old Nokias (3310?) were famous for good reception.0

Might be time to change networks, what are the others like in your area?0

If this can't get a signal then there is no signal.
Still have one and it gets used occasionally, lasts a week on a charge and is near indestructible.0

Thanks, GRM. Which Nokia model is this?
PMDUK: At the moment Vodafone is the best, which is what we have just now.
Also, would consider getting an external antenna if I knew which phones can still take them. My Nokia has no port to take an external antenna.0

            6310i.......
I thought the antenna ports were for car kits only.0

Thanks, everyone. Will give the 6310i a try (plenty on ebay). This model does have an external antenna socket should I decide to try that.
 Cheers.0
