play.com pricing

Hi. I went on the site on sunday and saw the price of iphone 4 8gb was £320 - same as apple site as expected. On Monday I went to purchase and price gone up to £420!!! Now price today is £430. The white one was £460, but now its no longer listed. What on earth is going on. The only reason Im not buying from apple store is I have £200 worth of play vouchers

Play, Amazon and others operate dynamic pricing. One factor which may affect the pricing in this case is that the iPhone 5 launch means the iPhone 4 has been withdrawn from sale, meaning the retailer either has to pay more to get it from alternative suppliers, or it realises it can get more for the limited number that it holds in stock.

I thought it was the 3gs that was being withdrawn, with the 4 now being the 'starter' in the line up?

thats true. Maybe play are looking to stop selling it and only have a bit of stock left which they are trying to sell for an extortionate price? Nevertheless I am not impressed and will no longer be using my play.com credit card
