confused over line rental and Broadband with different providers and credit checks

I am thinking of switching to o2 for home broadband all rounder package at 6.25 a month as 12 months half price. Will the quidco cashback work as well?

but as the cheapest o2 line rental package is 13 pounds a month, I was thinking of switching to Primus at 7.99 a month.

but will o2 charge me a connection fee if I don't take out their line rental, I called them but they just wanted to put my order through straightaway even though I said I was calling for information only today.

I am also worried about credit rating checks, I could not take out a new phone contract with 02 as I failed the credit check so I upgraded instead and asked them to match the price which was fine. Perhaps 02 would not credit check as I am as existing mobile customer for many years. And if I pay upfront for a year with primus would they still do a credit check. I would be happy to pay upfront for both broadband and internet for 12 months if that would help.

ok called primus they said they don't do credit checks, I can do the 12 months pay upfront at 99 pounds for the year, quidco and topcashback seem to be offering 15 pounds cashback.

my bt end date falls on a weekend so primus would change it on a Monday, if I have 1 or 2 days without a phone line I don't have to pay a connection fee again to install a new phone line right? Every flat I've moved into there has been a new connection fee of 130 pounds with bt or 89 pounds with o2 unless you took out an 18 month contract with bt and then they waived the 130 pounds. Really don't want to go through that again.

I should be ok with having primus line rental and o2 broadband I think, I think I don't need to have a 02 or bt landline to get o2 broadband.

Credit checks are undertaken at any time, and many firms will state they reserve the right to enquire at any time you remain a customer. The criteria for refusal is of course different - some wil lsimply want to know you've not been made bankrupt, others want to check for a good payment history.
