iPhone 4 deals?
Options
Hi shoppers. I'm going to treat my wife to an iPhone 4 later this year when her contract ends. I've read somewhere that its better to buy one on PAYG and the convert it? She would want a contract but preferably not a £45 per month for 24 months!
Do you know of any deals? anything I can do via topcashback vs the kind of deal i'll be able to get for a straight up renewal with vodafone? She'd need the internet with it for social media but she doesnt download songs/videos etc so im not sure what limit would be better.
I've searched this forum for the keyword iPhone and i cant find any 2012 posts related to this. Apologies if there are somewhere else.
All help is greatly appreciated

Not sure if this helps but I think I saw them online at Apple store yesterday £319 simfree. 3.5% cashback via quidco att the moment.0

I think its the 4s I meant. I didnt know the difference before but she takes alot of photos on her phone and the camera on the 4s looks a great deal better. I've found £370 for the handset on amazon and £20 per month on a 12 month for the phone and 1GB of data.
now to figure out how much general facebook app usage 1GB is..?MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
1gb is loads plus if u have wifi at home u can use that allowance instead. the new iphone5 is out in a few days so maybe worth holding out a few weeks/months as hopefully price will droplet he without sin cast the first stone0

Yeah i was thinking/hoping that. Thanks for the adviceMFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Wait until the 5 is out, then the 4S will drop in value on auction sites making them a better bargain. I'd avoid going on contract for all the usual reasons - an unlocked (NOT jail broken) handset is the MoneySaving way.0

...I've found some new sim less handsets for £370 on Amazon and a sim only contract with 1GB of internet and unlimited texts is £20.50 per month for 12 months. That totals £616. (cashback through amazon too?)
Also, depending on how many minutes you want, there are cheaper sim-only deals, say £10-£12 at Virgin Mobile with 250-1200 minutes correspondingly. If i went via a contract straight up i'm struggling to find a 12 month contract for a start and they all seem to range £40+ for the free handset.0 -
I think her current contract is 500 minutes unlimited texts and she doesnt go over and isnt ever massively under that either.
She uses the phone mainly whilst in wifi areas but i know she would also use it on the move but its hard to gauge how much. Thats why im think be safe and go 1GB?
Forgot you dont get cashback through amazon! Didnt realise i could get it through a sim only contract though!MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Get what? Sim-only means a sim without a handset. To use the sim you have to buy a sim-free or a PAYG handset elsewhere.

I didnt realise i could get cashback on a sim only contract.
However, it was not what I suggested.
To clarify, there was no any cashback for Virgin sim-only.
Quidco/TCB and redemption cashback that I mentioned was for a contract phone from mobiles.co.uk.
Talkmobile is another place to check for good £8-£12 sim-only tariffs.0
