Hi all,
Hope you don't mind me joining youI used to post on the OS board a lot more before I got engaged and discovered the wedding board! I have gone part time at work now at the start of September (yay!) so I'm hoping I have a bit more time.
There is something about this time of year that makes me feel more OS! I have just made a lovely big pot of soup and been having a bit of a tidy round. This afternoon I have to go up to Cambridge for an appointment with an allergy consultant, which I am not looking forward to. I have always had life threatening food allergies but back in July I had a horrendous (nearly died) anaphylactic reaction to something else, but we're not sure what. So it needs to be investigated. However as I haven't seen an allergy doctor in about 6 years I bet they will want to do the !!!!! test on my arms for all the other stuff we know I'm allergic to....and my allergies are so sensitive and severe that even having a tiny bit on my arm is enough to make me feel rubbishnever mind...
Hope everyone has a good day and you don't mind me joining you!0 -
Hugs to BB and grhh  on hester's behalf.
JackieO
Just saw your post and sounds like a nasty fall. Glad you did not break anything but the bruises and grazes will be painful enough.
Rest and get yourself better. It must have been a shock.
DD is still in hospital and we see head of medical team tomorrow afternoon to discuss results of all the scans she had on Friday.
Youngest seems to be settling a bit better at uni and can't wait for our bathroom to be finished as it will be a real boon when dd gets home from hospital.
A lasagne type dish using home grown marrow slices instead of lasagne sheets is assembled ready to bake tonight and making me and DH small portion of stuffed marrow for lunch.
Will visit hospital tonight and try to sort out clean laundry heap and get my hair cut if they can squeeze me in at local hairdressers.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Morning everybody, hope you are all well.DH and I are back from our break in France.I did manage to get a few posts read, but the wifi was a bit patchy. We had a lovely time, nice food and wine, nice little hotel with lovely owners.Oh, I did nearly drown though:eek::o-some massive waves suddenly started breaking onto the beach and I got pulled away from DH.Tried to get out but the waves were too strong and kept getting washed over me.By that time I was gasping for breath and exhausted.Luckily at that point DH had spotted me and grabbed hold, but i was losing grip when 2 lovely Frenchmen:A came to help him & hauled me out.It was so scary :eek:and happened so suddenly-the day before I'd swum no probs, the day after it was like a millpond.
Had to have a good clean up yesterday, the Dw had been on,kitchen tidy,post/milk brought in,dog walked (fridge empty;)) etc to keep things ticking over, but not to my standardTo be fair DS1 wasnt here for much of the time and DS2 wasnt feeling his best.He does boxing training/sparring,and got a whack on the nose last week. After the swelling went down,he still couldnt breathe thru it ,so went to have it checked out & the septum is bent so he has to have a correction procedure. He's mad because they arent supposed to hit that hard in sparring, and his opponent was one of the bosses of the gym and should have known better
Did a quick top up shop yesterday,we had beef in the sc for tea, enough left for another roast meal for 4 to put in the freezer, and some for a sandwich today,so not bad, just the initial outlay.Pork tonight, needs using today as DSons havent used it.
DGD came yesterday and was very cuddly with me,think she must have missed me.She's walking really well now,no stopping her:rotfl:
HH-sorry about the fostering, sure you would have been great.
Bitsy,good luck vibes for DH
BB-hope the anaesthetic has worn off now.At least you can start proper treatment now.
Hugs Molly41
Elona-hope DD is feeling better
Right, better go and do something useful
JackieO- sorry to hear about your fall, you poot thing it sounds so sore (((hugs)))
Daisie egg- welcome back & congrats on your engagement. The allergy thing sounds very scary.I sympathise as my grown up son has multiple allergies, though not as severe or life threatening.Hope you get to the bottom of it.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. JackieO  Get DD to look after you today
and you really must stop rushing around like a blue bottomed fly at your tender age
Saying that I am bored senseless on my lazy day, so I might just put a load of washing in after this load has finished  (No one is about to catch me )
RosyRed  I hope that you are over your ordeal, lucky that those men were around to help you :A
elona fingers crossed that the news is good about DD
Welcome back daisyegg xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Back from doc's - liver + kidneys are fine, but reconfirmation that thyroid is hugely underactive. Just wish private and NHS would communicate with each other properly and not waste my time.
Lunch is toasted French bread and Brussels pate. Dinner is lamb steaks, roast spuds, and roast mediterranean veg. Went in to Mr T for sugar and came out £10 lighter - how does that happen? Noticed they don't have any Value products whatsoever in there, but for now it's convenient in terms of lugging bags of shopping home. Picked up some reduced breaded cod for the freezer - 2 big portions for £1.49 so I felt very MSE. Resisted the reduced Belgian chocolate eclairs AND the Stilton. Can't believe 4 tins of tuna are £7.79!
Next time I go to Costco, I'm going to take a pad and calculator and work out exactly where they're cheaper than elsewhere on the things we usually buy; I'll cost up the normal shopping on mysupermarket before I go. We usually buy 5kg bags of sugar and 2 huge jars of mayo for DH in Costco but it might not be the best value option. I seem to have 2 big half-empty boxes of washing-powder lurking in the pantry so I'm going to combine those to create some space. General tidying is on the agenda for today. My sister wants all my old videos for her patients; I was just going to bin them so at least they'll have a home.
Hugs to everyone, especially on medical and interview stuff, and welcome daisieI know what you mean about this time of year - it's that old primeval urge to prepare for winter, I think. In the olden days we'd be slaughtering and salting the livestock, storing the root veg and filling the grain sacks. Then we'd sit in dark smoky rooms with the shutters closed and get our spinning wheels out for 6 months. I reckon women had it easier than men in those days psychologically in terms of coping with winter - we still had plenty to do to make sure the household was clothed and fed.

Evening all, note to self......DO NOT CUT UP ONION AND THEN RUB EYES! OW.
Mixed day, meeting all morning, work most of the afternoon and I found an error I have made. Doesn't have an impact on any decision making or cost anyone anything they didn't owe, but I am really FED UP with myself. Maybe I am too old and vague to be working. I'm only 53, but it's been eventful 53 yearss and maybe the toll on my brain cells has been too great.
Lunch was left over roast med vegetables and dinner is stir fry.
Good luck to interviewees, sympathy to those injured and hugs to everyone else.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0
