Old Style Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th September 2012Hi, this is the Daily Monday 17th September 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
WM is on, fish fed, hubby has a cuppa, packups ready, breakfast eaten, I shall be off to work soon & the joys of ofsted.
One of my knuckles is swollen & beginning to twist, I think it must be arthritis as it isn't infected.
I didn't sleep well, I spent most of the night plotting evil revenge on the ex, lol. It is disappointing, but not at all surprising, that's why he's the ex! Onwards & upwards, there is no point in brooding or in trying another council or agency as he will do the same thing next time, karma will strike eventually.
have a good day everybody.
Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone,

Hester so sorry to hear your news.

Hilstep hope you feel a bit better today.

Work again today, it is really busy at school at the moment, and this evening we have a german girls arriving to stay for a week with DD1.

Need to defrost the fridge, it is making funny noises!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning Hester, Moorhen & all to follow.

Hester - saw your news on your blog, so sorry :( I am sure ex will get his karma eventually.

Nice and peaceful in the Essex house at the moment, OH is at work and both kids still in bed. Today after I have dropped DD at the station I shall probably have an office day :o not looking forward to it but needs must.

Last of the leftover beef will be turned into stew for dinner tonight but will make DD leek and potato soup as she is not a stew fan.

Nothing much else to report, house needs a deep clean and declutter but I need to catch up on office work first. Last week was a bit mad so hope to make inroads this week.

Off now, caffeine required - have a great day all.x
  • Morning all, sunny but nippy here, Jack and Loki walked and fed so off to school in a while. One load in WM so DD will hang that out later.Hope the teachers don't give you too much stress as Ofsted is in HH. Hugs to all in need and have a good day all:)

Butterfly - I have similar problems with my tummy to you. I think it is a result of all the pain meds we take:(
Elona - Hope DD is improving?

    Hugs x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Beautiful blue sky, sun is shining but a bit nippy here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early. Washing out on the line.

Dinner last night was as per the menu plan, fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash and veg. Didn't have a jelly to make the bottom part of the trifle, so visited SM on the way home last night and purchased jelly and cream so will do that in a mo before I leave for work then it will be set when I get home, so I can put the custard layer on etc.

Work was busy but not quite a manic Monday, I was mentoring a colleague who has just returned from maternity leave in the morning then I was on the phones all afternoon, so managed to catch up on my emails, and jobs that needed doing.

When I got home tonight after work, I have a couple of phone calls to make and must remember to purchase car tax online for one of the cars - I have to make a list of jobs nowadays otherwise I just forget! Will put a loaf in the BM too, so boys have fresh bread for tomorrow.

Looking forward to getting finished today as just working until lunchtime tomorrow then on days off, I'll be able to catch up with all the jobs I haven't got done etc.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Hester sorry things didn't work out
Little Vic hope the house is getting there. We haven't lit our fire yet but it is getting chilly so it won't be long.
Elona how is your dd doing?

Nice and bright but chilly here. I don't think washing will dry so it's on the maiden.
Have to phone the estate agents this morning. It's s@ds law that now we have settled on staying for a couple of years we have had a reasonable offer, but going to continue with our plans to stay and let DS finish his A levels. Feel sorry for the couple who want it but must do what's right for us and our family.
Have just wrote a 100 words for the market research company as to why I would make a good mystery shopper, so hope I will get some work for them. Have lots of vintage (old) items to list on eBay today:rotfl:
Have been up most of the night with toothache so will phone the dentist shortly, it's the same tooth they can find nothing wrong with, I just wish they would take the blooming thing out!

    Morning all,

Good luck to Mr Bitsy for today xxxx

Hester so sorry to hear your news xx

Bargain B how is Maud ?

Nice day here again, got to take the lounge curtains down this morning and give them a good wash, the were originally hanging in my bedroom, and I took them down to try in the lounge, and they looked so nice that I left them there, but they need a wash, and today they will dry well.

Also need to drop dd at work, then home and paid office work, tidy through downstairs, and then pop and see dad.

Yesterday I got the front and most of the back garden tidied up for winter, I still have a few corgettes growing, and a huge pumpkin :T, so will leave those plants in for a while longer.

Dinner tonight is the left over lamb from yesterday reheated in some gravy, there is also some sweede left, so just spuds and more veg to do.

Right better get on, have good days all xx

HH sorry to hear your bad news..........

Bitsey sending vibes for OH and his interview today.

Tappers hope you both feel better soon.

Been mia over the weekend as in bed poorly. Unusual for me.........felt better yesterday and went out with OH for a walk round town. Need to get fit for foodbank tomorrow.

So the washing machine and dishwasher are on and I am drinking my first cuppa of the day. Housework beckons but I am going to take it steady....

Might practise my crochet this afternoon -I am working on treble crochet stitch now.

Tea is omelette and salad with new potatoes. we had chicken curry last night with leftover chicken and cauli cheese, rice and I tried a dahl mix that was lurking out of date in the back of the cupboard. OH loved it.

Well off to finish my cuppa.

Hugs and kind words to all who need them.

    Have a good day

    morning!

    sunny here:)

I'm taking DH to the docs shortly. I'm still stuffed full of cold so no work again today.

Need to go and buy a new cooker today - mine has been on the way out for about a year but it died last night so this will make a dent in my emergency pot. Still its been a good cooker for at least 12 years or more so cant complain really.

Got to take DS to work and also little Louie needs to go to the vets for his yearly jabs.

WM is on with a small load. Have cleaned behind the cooker:o as the local shop we're getting the cooker from will hopefully deliver it and install it today.

    Bitsy - fingers crossed for DH's interview x x x x

Gintot - thanks for the get well wishes for us both x

    (((hugs))) to those in need

    take care all x
