Hi guys,
Feeling a bit frustrated this last week or so. Its been a bit more of an expensive time as well as earning less than normal from my regular work. Its frustrating as I need to feed my addiction of OP'ing!!! I'm not able to though! Argh. I do have a £2.50 cheque in my wallet ready to bank. I think I'm going to have to use the money from my extra work which is annoying, £645 worth. Still I can look forward to the DD being paid Mon, just over £300 which is good. I will also increase the payment this month to cover savings made in reduced bills.
Have a good day all. Pop in to say hello anytime, the kettle's on!Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

Don't be too hard on yourself Matt - it was only a couple of weeks ago that you made a massive £660 overpayment. Just see it as a little 'blip' - you are making great progress in putting back into savings what you originally took out.
I sometimes feel that I wish I hadn't started this MFW journey, as now that I am on it I get impatient and want the mortgage paid NOW, where before I didn't give the mortgage a second thought.
Think of it as we are slowly chipping away at the mortgage and will be mortgage-free a lot earlier than if we hadn't started this journey.

Thanks Sweetdaisy,
You're always a voice of calm and reason for me. I think I am a bit hard on myself but I want to be going Ka-boooom with the mortgage rather than gently chipping away at it. I can't be doing with the frequent tiny amounts. It obviously works wonders for some people and does make a difference in the long run. I just seem to be after the big difference amounts. So I'm probably missing out on some extra money going into the mortgage but it lets us have the important little treats so we don't miss out when a large amount leaves the account.Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

Me, calm! You must have the wrong person :rotfl:! Like you I always make sure that I have money for treats as we only live once and I want us as a family to still have fun, but I can still make my money go further at the same time.0 -
Treats- Pizza Hut tonight, very tasty it was to! Different to home made but makes a nice change.
I can make my money stretch further than I used to be able to. But saying that, to lots of frugal people on here, I've got a long way to go to save the same levels as them. I'm happy with how its going. If I need extra money, then I'll be able to do some extra work to make up a shortfall.Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

I've got my builder mate around today doing some more work on the garden of our place. I did a very MSE deal with him. He took my VW Corrado sporty car in exchange for half money and 12 days of his labour time to sort the back of the house and do the prep work ready for me to fit timber decking across half the garden. A good deal for both as he doesn't have to spend much getting the car he wants and I'm happy because it makes for a very happy partner of mine! He will also be building a pizza oven outside (a dome with an open front), we looked online and you can buy kits to do them but they're silly expensive! I've been thinking about doing a funky design with the decking. When most people have it, its a straight line layout. Anything else and it would cost a lot in labour if they couldn't do it themselves. So I thought about doing a smart diamond shape from the centre. I think this would be a cool look and wouldn't cost me any labour. It might cost more in materials but the finish and individual look would be worth it.
I'm just about to help move 150 blocks and sand into the back garden! Gulp!Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

The blocks took nearly all day to move! They had to go about 40 paces to the back garden. To top it off, we had a 3/4 of a ton bag of sand to move as well!!! Totally shattered once it was done.
Our littlest boy had a couple of late birthday cards this weekend (a month late!). So he had £20 in them, we will mark it down in our spreadsheet for money to pay the boys when they are older after the mortgage is done. I'll OP that £20 and found out just now, my ISA has paid me £54 in interest after I nearly emptied the account. I'll get down to the bank this week and OP this as well. I have the £2.50 cheque burning a hole in my wallet also.
Yay, its a bit more chipping away to do! Happy days.Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006
