I have a mobile on T-Mobile which ois provided by work.

I work from home quite a bit and the phone signal is pretty non existent downstairs in my house.

Can get a slightly better signal upstairs but a real pain having to run up and down stairs to get the phone

Is there any ways to improve signal at all. I have tried the sticker signal boosters but dont really do much

Gaming guy ; Is that just a general typing of those symbols or do you have to do it before each call ?

Anybody else got any ideas ?

Depending on type of mobile, there might be an antenna adapter that you can get. One end fits on your mobile and the other has an FME connector.

Then use an antenna like here.

This has a rubber sucker to stick to your window. Get the one with the FME connector on.

What model mobile have you got?

Just Googled and first hit is this from Expansys. You might pick up a cheaper one on eBay or elsewhere, but this illustrates what I'm suggesting.

The Nokia 6310 has an antenna connector, which means that the lead just plugs in and makes electrical contact with the phone's antenna. Not many phones these days have antenna connections, so you will have to have what's known as a passive antenna which is not as effective as direct connection. This will probably mean having your phone in a cradle (like a car kit), which you then hold.

That's all ifs and buts until you find out what model you are getting. Will you have to part with your Nokia 6310?

Will have to part with the 6310 but luckily think we have a spare 6310 I could use somewhere in the loft.

Just need to find it. Thanks for your help Donny

You could wait until you get your new phone and see if there is a suitable connector. That would save you having to swap your SIM when you get home.

If not, then get your old 6310 (assuming it's unlocked for T-Mobile).

Donny ; I now have a Nokia 6021 as my new phone. Would it be best to use old 6310 to improve signal or try and find a connector for the new phone ?

Hello, sorry for not replying sooner.

TBH, I'm not sure. It's probably swings and roundabouts.

With your 6310 you will have to swap the SIM card, although it does have a proper aerial connection. That said, the wire from your handset could be pulled out if it's just a plug.

With your 6021, you will have to buy a cradle, which will mean it will be more bulky, but won't come out as easy. It will also mean you won't have to swap SIM cards. But the connection to your external antenna won't be as good. But if the signal is good enough, it may be OK.

I bought my car kit from Sio Communications. The chap that runs it, Terry, will respond if you post on his forum.

You might also get help from other forums like the one on Mobile-review.com and HowardForums.com.

A universal passive holder is here. The official Nokia one is here and one on eBay here.

I Googled nokia 6021 fme. Try it and see what you get.
