Just got one of those £9.99 Orange alcatel phone unfortunately it's locked. And since orange charge £20 for an unlock code it's quite pointless.

Can anyone do it for free? I presume someone running a shop would be kind enough to do it for me?

The phone will end up costing me £5 after quidco so I don't really see me paying £10 to get it unlocked. Even if it cost me £5, I'm not so sure it's worth it as I can get another one for £5!

If there is a kind soul out there some help would be appreciated!

There is no free unlock for this phone.

I doubt anyone will do it for free, as if they have the unlocking hardware, it will have cost them money, plus there is the cost of returning the phone by a signed for method of delivery. This all has to be paid for.

If you feel £5 is too much to get it unlocked, then I think you should be resgined to using it on the Orange network. Orange have reinstated the £10 top up fee, so unfortunately you can't get another one for £10 without paying for a £10 top up voucher.

Well I might pay £5. I suppose it's not that much. But is there anyone in manchester that can do it?

It is really just a case of going to your local indepedent phone shop (not CPW, Phones4U etc) or market stall and asking them.

If you get stuck I can do it (PM me for the cost), but it would be easier for you if you found someone local.
