Do you keep opened jams/sauces/condiments in the fridge?
It's also worth remembering that houses today are generally much warmer than even 20 years ago or so. Pantries especially would have been lovely and cool, unlike a centrally heated house and a hot kitchen!
I do keep apricot jam in the fridge, simply because we use so little of it.
I always keep opened jars of jam in the fridge as I have had so many grow a fur coat when they have been kept in the cupboard! Also keep mayo in fridge, most things I have room for in fact, but tomato sauce, brown sauce and worcester sauce are the only ones I keep in the cupboard.
