Just had this when I put in my receipt details:

Sorry Waitrose are cheapest this time. Your comparable grocery shopping is £11.60 cheaper at Waitrose. ASDA are not 10% cheaper than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Waitrose. As such you are entitled to a voucher for £11.87.

    Tesco Sainsbury's Morrisons Waitrose
    Competitor comparable shop £13.46 £8.39 £16.49 £2.62
    ASDA comparable shop £14.89 £10.91 £14.89 £14.22
    Difference to ASDA -£1.43 -£2.52 +£1.60 -£11.60
    10% Cheaper than competitor £12.11 £7.55 £14.84 £2.35
    Difference to ASDA
    comparable shop -£2.78 -£3.36 -£0.05 -£11.87
We will always issue a voucher for the largest amount, when we are not 10% cheaper than more than one competitor.

The next receipt I entered showed details as normal.

Still not caught up with a weeks worth of posts but skimmed today's.

I think in a way this "glitch" has become too big and maybe it's good that, in one way or another, it seems to be coming to an end.

I am looking forward to more individual glitches - with Xmas coming up an alcohol one would be good!
  • Went to my nearest store today and wanted to use £20+ voucher, got to the till and gave my voucher over the SA called over SV to check if the voucher was ok to use, whilst marking my receipt.
Was told I couldnt use the voucher and insinuated that I was commiting fraud.
I asked them to check the receipt but they said that they couldnt.
I paid for the goods in cash as I was so humiliated and upset.
I got back to my car and started to think how I have been treated.
So I called HO and spoke to a lovely lady, I explained what had happened and she then contacted the manager of the store.
He then called me to apologise and asked me come back into the store to sort out the issue, which I did and he was very apologetic and allowed me to use the voucher. He said that he was going to reprimand the SVs in question.
What really got me was how SVs seem to think that they can treat their customers like dirt and get away with it.
The manager explained that from Sunday that any vouchers over £15 would not be accepted at the tills, they would be directed to customer services and they would be given a telephone number to contact to be advised what they needed to do to redeem the voucher.
Went round the store again and at the till had no problems in using the voucher.

Off to catch up, happy glitching !

they are quite entitled to refuse to refund on a 'change of mind'. It is only if the items are faulty that the law states they must refund.

That is true as far as statute is concerned, but any company can offer broader consumer protection if they wish to. Asda has a no quibble refund policy, cash/card if with a receipt, onto a gift card if no receipt.

    ASDA Supermarkets Ltd. policy
ASDA Supermarket Ltd can only accept returns for items purchased at ASDA Supermarkets. Items purchased at larger ASDA Superstores should be returned to the store where originally purchased or at any other ASDA Superstore. Thank you for your co-operation.

If you are not happy with any purchase of ASDA branded grocery, fresh or frozen items you can return the product and we will offer a full refund or replacement product.
A receipt or proof of purchase is preferred but not essential. Where you do not have a receipt of proof of purchase an exchange or refund onto a gift card maybe offered.

There is a similar policy for Asda Stores Ltd. There is no requirement to demonstrate the product is faulty.
