If APCOA have stated in any of their letters that they consider the owner liable, is this not ripe for a complaint to the DVLA to see if we can get APCOA suspended from the AOS access?

Yep, definitely worth a report to the DVLA this week re any PPC we know that are jumping the gun by saying in their tickets, signs or threatograms, that the registered keeper is liable.

Post #16 on this thread, Broadsword gives an email addy that will reach the right place:

Any complaint need pics or a scan of the offending letter, ticket or sign.

  • Rang APCOA who admitted they had the cheque, would now cash it and cancel the debt collector. :(:(Any guidance anyone?

Ouch! Had you only consulted this forum earlier. You must have realised from statements that your cheque was not cashed, a good time to have stopped it. That would have set you back £10 but I'd far rather have paid that. Better still, I'd have closed the account to which the cheque pertained and re-opened and that way there would have been Sweet FA the bank could have done if APCOA later discovered the cheque lying around.

You now know private parking demands are a scam, don't throw a penny in their direction again!
  • I received a letter from Apcao several days ago and was going to pay it until I googled them. It seems the advice is Ignore, Ignore, Ignore. Have people on here all done this and have they just gone away and stopped sending letters?

Am I correct in saying that there is no known case of APCOA ever taking anyone to court over unpaid "charges"?

There's a FOI list somewhere on here for 2011 claims by operator, and I don't think APCOA were on the list, so I'd be tempted to say 'yes, APCOA don't ever do court'

I've certainly not heard of one.

Seconded. I think APCOA have never ever taken any case to Small Claims at all. Never ever read about one and they'd lose nowadays if they tried one.

Like all the other posters on this board, you have a fake PCN. Ignore it. I have personally ignored two and I'm only a law-abiding Mum who would never risk my credit rating or anything. Nothing happens.

When dealing with "tickets" from private parking companies (PPCs) our advice for tickets received up until the end of September is to ignore them as long as it's your car (not a company, hire or lease car). The registered keeper will just receive the usual threatgrams and can play a nice game of snap with them.

Tick off the threatening letters here.

    Barrister's opinion here.

Show your friends & family the links and make sure the registered keeper is ready to play their game of snap!
