I planted parsnips, caulis, peas and leeks last Tuesday, and have just checked to find that I have some growing already. They are in my little mini greenhouse, hopefully the full sized greenhouse will go up over Easter, and I can really start growing things.

My kids think I`m mad. I am a first time veg grower and keep screaming for the kids to have a look at my seedlings as they grow more each day. The courgettes are going mad, its like day of the trifids in that corner and my beetroot looks almost pretty :o It`s like having loads of newborns to be proud of :p

My seeds have all grown and are bursting out propagation tank, I too much of a wimp to put my beloved seedlings into the cold greenhouse world, they used to sitting in the warm in a nice tank.

If I put them outside will they die??????

    Break them in gently!

start by moving them out of the propogator, onto a windowsill. after a few days/a week, they can go into the cold greenhouse. depending what the seedlings are will determine when you should move them outside - remember that you can have frost up to the end of may.

I put them (toms, cuces chilli's etc.) in the unheated greenhouse during the day on a few warm days to harden them up then left them overnight when the forecast was for a warm night I left some of them out, now they stay out all the time (I live near the Scottish Border). We even had a light ground frost last night but they all survived (had I known I would have brought them in).

I have lettuce, runner beans and courgettes sprouted in my conservetory. When should I plant them in the garden? I know I have to "harden them off" first, but with a good weekend forecast, I wondered if I should risk it?

I think it is much too soon to put courgettes out, they cannot stand frost, but you can start hardening off the lettuce and beans with a viw to planting them out early May.
I just planted my courgettes today, up here in Glasgow they cannot go outside until end of May almost.
I have very small tomatoes, peppers and cucs in the greenhouse, amongst loads of bedding plants and herbs, but it is heated to 10 degrees C. The heating will go off in May.
Growing from seed is really intertesting I find!
