Hi all,
I have Sky broadband and am looking to set up both Outlook and Express.
From memory I have to change the smtp and pop3 servers??
I have looked on the website, but can't log in as I have forgot my sky password (doh)
By the way, does anyone know of any other programs similar to Outlook and Express?
Thanks
Mike

you shouldn't need your password to get the help pages which should give the info required. You will however need the password for outlook. Try Thunderbird e-mail

From the Sky Broadband Help Pages:
+ How do I set up email accounts in Outlook Express?
- Close
Please note: if you are trying to create an email address for someone else in your household you must first set them up with a sub account so that the new address will be recognised by the Sky mail servers. Once that is done you can follow the instructions below so that email to and from the address can be managed via Outlook Express.
Alternatively you may set it up manually. These are the instructions for Outlook Express on a PC:
1. Open Outlook Express, click Tools then select Accounts 2. Click the Mail tab, then click Add and select Mail 3. The wizard will start. Type in your name then click Next 4. Enter your email address then click Next 5. Leave the My Incoming Mail Server is a POP3 Server drop down box as POP3. In Incoming Mail Server enter: pop.sky.com (all lowercase, no spaces). In Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server enter: smtp.sky.com (all lowercase, no spaces). 6. In the Account Name Box enter the first part of your @sky.com email address (everything before the @ sign). In the Password Box, enter the password for your @sky.com email account, then click Next. 7. Click Finish 8. To complete the acount creation process click Tools then select Accounts 9. Click the Mail tab, then click Properties 10. Click the My server requires authentication box to place a tick inside. Click OK 11. Repeat the above process for each mail account you want to set up, including sub accounts. Each sub account will have a different email address and password. If you're having trouble sending email from Outlook Express (or other email software), it may mean you need to switch on SMTP authentication.
You can also use G-Mail to collect mail from your POP3 accounts. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Tried the set up as written, but have come up with this error:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.sky.com', Server: 'pop.sky.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Knowing nothing about computers, any idea what I have done wrong as I belive I followed the instructions to the letter?0 -
Did you enter your account name and password correctly?
Have you be able to log in on the Sky portal? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Give Sky a call. I forgot mine when I came to set it up today - a quick 'phone call and they gave me my email address & password.
BTW, I was pleasantly surprised how simple it was to set up. I installed the BT Home Hub package for a friend recently and that was a nightmare - extremeley confusing! My Sky setup took less than 5 minutes. Clear instructions and simple software!0
