Hi, I am looking to buy a new PAYG mobile (or simcard for an old phone) but it will only be used off and on.
Ideally I would like a service where you can top up with a lump sum, to use on either calls or texts, and it lasts indefinitely or if not at least for a few months. I would prefer this to having to top up £10 a month for credit that will disappear if not used, which seems to be how a lot of PAYG services work now. Has anyone got any recommendations on networks who provide this service?

The Tesco Value is something you will be looking for, most companys offer the free mins or/and texts on a pay £10 monthly basis.

On the networks now, you will not lose your credit if it is not used. Many companies ask for a minimum top up of £10 a month to get special offers (o2, Orange, t-Mobile free texts). If you dont top up £10 a month you dont lose your credit, you just will not get your free rewards.

O2 and Orange do free texts with a minimum top up every month, t mobile do unlimited evening and weekend texts, and vodafone, if you spend over £5 in a week, you get free texts and calls to vodafone and landlines at the weekend, and 1 hr of cross net calls at the weekend.

With most of the networks the only requirement is that you make a chargable call.text once every 90 or 180 days, Do that and you have no risk of your credit expiring.
