Its quite common that they don't add up.

It could be a faulty display but if it were, wouldn't it affect all 3 reads?

If that 8 was a 5, the total is still incorrect.

In terms of switching, they don't need your Total register. Some suppliers use a Total dial as an internal thing but it isn't billed into settlement so its irrelevant. You could ask if they use it, if they don't, they don't want it.

To be honest, even if you just give the 2 everyone needs, they will add them together if they really need the Total register.

That might be too much like commonsense for some suppliers though...;):D

  • Thank the Lord I don't work in the EDF call centre...

There are many reasons to be glad of that...

I try to keep my brain in gear, and avoid trotting out a pre-learned list of facts, irrespective of their relevance!

I also don't understand why many people prefer to post on MSE before contacting the people with whom they already have some kind of 'relationship'.

Hmm not sure what you are trying to say mob. I have good knowledge and like to think I keep on top of all my readings. I work out the usage for my electric and gas and use the correct formulae etc. I only asked a question as it was too late last night to call EDF that's all. Not sue what your point is? Instead of you slight digs why not just make your point?
