Landline and broadband with one company TV with another

Options
Is there any reason, or will I not be able to do this (for example, if the company has a policy of some sort):

I'm thinking of getting a landline and broadband connection first, with company X. Then after few months getting only TV package with a different company.

The reason I'm doing it this way is because it works out cheaper.

Well, it depends on whose TV package you're going for. If it is Virgin then you'll probably need a Virgin cable connection, thus their line and broadband. Similarly for BT Vision. Similarly also for TalkTalk's YouView (I think).

The only one (I'm aware of) where it doesn't matter is Sky - you can get their TV package without having to take the rest. But it's probably cheaper to take their "triple play" offer.
  • I was thinking of having broadband and landline with orange, then TV with Virgin.

I don't think that's possible. I don't believe Virgin do TV except via their cable connections.

Its possible, but maybe not the most cost effective, to get VM TV you need to be in their cable area, you may find that getting TV on is own is no cheaper than getting TV and a phone line from VM, and have no option to pay for a line regardless if you use it or not.

Well we have a virgin socket. And providing we can get landline and broadband from orange, we were thinking of only getting tv from virgin.

You can get VM Cable TV only but it costs for the basic service £156 a year plus approx £50 connection, and for a Tivo Box add another £60 a year.

Would I be right to think that it isn't actually cheaper to get broadband first, then say few months later tv (and landline if they say its part of the deal)

Basically we only wanted broadband first, and then once wages look up we'd add TV. But not too sure what to do now.
