Looking for a decent laptop under £200

Just my two pence;
I'd reccommend avoiding Medion stuff, I've bought several items (inc. laptop, desktop, hard drives) in the past and found two problems;
- They are often very badly designed in my opinion (no idea why this should be so, as cost doesn't really have much bearing on design). So it's important that you check out the Medion product and find out as much as you can before purchasing.
- The lower quality components are, in my opinion, far too low quality. I'm all for saving money on something if it does the same job, but at the end of the day in the case of Medion stuff this translates to basically a much shorter life than a higher priced gadget.
Just a couple of examples that springs to mind: laptop battery held in by about 2mm of plastic clip, which inevitably snapped pretty quickly. Two hard drives failing within a week. Although in the latter case I was able to get an exchange/refund respectively, no quibbles (through Aldi).
Ofcourse I respect that this is just my experience, and I may have just had the bad luck of rolling all the ones. Other people may have had more positive experiences.0 -

1. medion laptop OUT OF STOCK!!!
2. i have to admit i can't find any other good one with 200 pounds
3. toshiba generally have better reputation .
I'm devastated.NiftyDigits wrote: »You're gone.
Oh, and shouldn't you be The One who's 'gone' as you were banned from your previous account?0 -
Or would have been removed from the member list completely? Take This no longer appears there. I know you don't have a high opinion of other people's intelligence, but expecting people not to twig that you operated that account, without any attempt to disguise your traits on your current one, is really taking things a bit too far!NiftyDigits wrote: »now making baseless allegations.
Clue: If someone has been banned, they have PPR next to their name.0 -
personalities aside, can anyone give any feedback about the Median brand?0

Hard to say. I have a hardy Medion PC. Five years with no trouble at all. ALDI Medion PCs have a three year warranty.
But their cheap laptops might be another story.0 -
