Toilet leaking into bowl

more than likely inlet valve we made the mistake of buying a cheap bathroom suite last year (better bathrooms AVOID) everything that came was not very good quality, poorly made and a nightmare to fit
toilet cistern was fine for a few months then every week or so would overflow due to the float on the inlet valve being poorly designed/constructe. id adjust it it would be fine then shortly after it would fail to rise and seal the inlet so replaced the valve and end of problems that was a tenner well spent0 -
If you can't see the problem obviously from looking in the bowl or cistern then the doughnut is the likely problem0

I have a pic saved on my computer but dont know how to post pics on this site0

The op said it is a push button toilet.
More likely the Flush valve not closing properly.
Try to identify the type. With many can replace the working parts without having to remove the cistern.
But need to identify the particular valve first as there are many in use.0 -
Symtoms of failing Flush Valve would be water running constantly into toilet---toilet taking a long time to fill with inlet valve running constantly.
See if there is a ballofix valve on the inlet pipework and turn off--90 degree turn of screw.
As stated if on a water meter this can be a very expensive leak of gallons per hour.0 -

please don't post incorrect advice it's not going to be the doughnut washer at all, like others have said it's either the ballvalve not shutting off or the cistern filling up too far (again the ballvalve) or the flush, syphon, flapper valve which ever you have fitted, & i don't really think shutting the water on & off everytime you want to use the loo is very helpful either.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Toilet is PUSHBUTTON.
Unless it is one of the old Edwardian toilets I assume it is a modern close coupled toilet. The cisterns are smaller and designed to flush with only 6 or 5 litres. There is no room for a ball float.
The button may be pneumatic or cable or mechanically operated. The cable may be kinked or valve jammed or rubber seal perished.
Till we see a photo then everyone is working blind.
I apologise for recommending you should turn off the water supply. Please disregard this useless advice and go on letting the water run freely down the toilet bowl especially if you're not on a water meter. If you are on a meter then I'm sure other posters with better advice will chip in when the bill arrives.
Whatever the problem I tend to agree about the donut. If it was that then the bathroom would be flooded by now.0 -

Can't see it. If you know the url of the place you uploaded it to just type it in and leave out the http bit. Someone can put it back in.
You can safely ignore all the firm diagnoses above until we can see whats going on. Is the pic of the inside of the cistern and as per post 2 is the flow down the overflow or is it via the flush valve as if it were permanently flushing. Yes its 100% NOT going to be the donut washer..
Cheers.
Edit: First para doesn't read right. Copy the url into a post on this thread and delete the http bit before submitting your post. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -
Its an outlet seal, not a doughnut & its 3 & 6 litres on a dual flush.0
