Your experience of customer service in mobile phone shops

I went looking for a new phone in 3, Vodaphone, T-Mobile, Orange, Phones4U and 02 shops at the White Rose in Leeds yesterday.
The lady in the 3 shop was the best followed by the chap in Vodaphone. No attempts to sell me but proper customer service in that they were knowledgeable and very helpful.
Staff members were playing on their phones in the T-Mobile, Orange and 02 shops. I just walked out.
I was blanked by the staff in Phones4U
I didn't buy a new phone because my San Francisco does everything that I want and I cannot justify spending £300+ on a phone that does the same albeit.

Carphone Warehouse - Walked through the door and had someone jump on me almost immediatey asking what phone I wanted...
o2 - Questionable, my local o2 store is very rude, the one in the town over is a bit better but as you mentioned the staff seem to be on their phones.
Vodafone - Very good, i've only just moved to them but my dad has been with them for about 10 years and always comes out happy when he's been in there.
Phones4U - Same attitude as Carphone Warehouse.0 -
Carphone Warehouse Store 1 - Very Quite. No one in the store. 2 Staff Members chatting away. No approach. Didnt even say Hi. Very poor service.
Carphone Warehouse Store 2 - Busy - Approached after 5 min. Enough staff to cope with busy store. Staff members chatting away. Poor Service
Phones 4 u. Approached as soon as I walked in. V good service0 -
I don't have a lot of experience with phone shops - but my local Orange shop staff are great, they take their time with you and explain everything, help you set up your phone etc etc.
I have no complaints with my local Carphone Warehouse staff either, we visited on a rainy Sunday afternoon, we'd found a deal online and went into the store to see if they could sell us the same deal. We had to wait for a member of staff to become available, but once he was, he was very helpful indeed, discussed our best option for payment to get the best deal, range of phone/colour/network etc, and the best payg plan to go on to start us off. He completely set the phone up instore so we had nothing to do but top up when we needed to.0 -
Its very hit and miss but i thought on my last trip to the Orange shop it was either ignorance or plain bullcrap.
Whilst ogling the new Samsung S3 the young lady assistant assured me that it will work on 4G when its eventually rolled out. FAIL!!!!!!!0 -

Orange have a variation that does have an LTE radio in it in preparation for the EE network but I wasn't aware they had hit the shops yet.0 -

I avoid all mobile phone shops if I can, they tend to be staffed by young males in cheap suits. Once they find out you only want a basic low rental phone they tend not to be interested. I work for a mystery shopping agency, unless they offer me an enhanced rate for visting mobile phone shops I never accept the work.
To me I wish they mobile network operators would lose the high street stores and pass on the saving to the customers. I mean do we really need 5 x mobile phone shops all on the same street, insome cases next door to each other? I guess its due to the fact (in my opinion) mobile phones tend to be sold and not bought.0 -
Carphone Wh*orehouse - was ignored when looking for iphone accessories. Not even a smile.
02 - very pleasant sales assistant but she put me on a buiness contract when I only wanted a personal one which took a bit of sorting out.
Not tried any othe others.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
I went into Virgin today & the chap was very helpful - not at all pushy and worked out the best deal for me & gave me plenty of information to take away.
Still confused as hell though!0
