second hand/refurb blackberry to use on giffgaff?

I am considering getting a blackberry to check emails on the road (as am recently self-employed and starting from nothing). At the moment I just have a prehistoric nokia with basic call functions. I think that giffgaff has the best rates for this kind of thing (and a blackberry bolt on if I want full use of it). Do you have any experience of giffgaff and blackberry? I do need to get a secondhand blackberry and would be grateful for advice on where to get one: should I take a risk and get one via ebay?

Alternatively I wonder if the market is about to be flooded with old iphones now that the iphone5 is out?

  • You need e-mail on the move and Giffgaff is good value but I'm not so sure about the Blackberry.

The first thing to know is that it costs £3 extra per month to use a Blackberry on Giffgaff. This is good value as it is often £5 with other PAYG networks but may be of interest.

Secondly, you might look at the Nokia Lumia 710 that Carphone Warehouse is pushing at the moment for £100 before the new Windows 8 phones come out, this would do e-mail and if bought as PAYG for o2 would take a Giffgaff SIM.

Either the Giffgaff Goodybag for £10 or if you are really after just mobile Internet the £5 Gigabag are good value.

If new to Giffgaff note that buying these is not the same as topping up your credit.
  • thank you Imjustcareful I am using the basic payg giffgaff and haven't used their goodbags yet, though it would be worth it. The Nokia looks good, I shall investigate further!
  • I use a BB on GG, £8 p/m with a Hokey Cokey GB & the BB add-on :) Works brilliantly, my step-son has my old BB on GG & pays £13 p/m as he needs unlimited texts!
